When removing the PAIR system from a 150cc, does the valve cover also need to be changed to a non-emission type along with installing a block off on the port in the head or can the emission type valve cover remain? If so, what do I do with the larger hose that is currently on the bottom of the emission valve cover?
Thanks

When removing the PAIR system from a 150cc, does the valve cover also need to be changed to a non-emission type along with installing a block off on the port in the head or can the emission type valve cover remain? The emission type will fit just fine and it can remain. In the pic below, remove the rubber hose from the reed valve. Remove the S tube and pitch it. Take all the bolts off of the reed valve housing and throw the guts away:
You'll be left with this hunk of aluminum hanging off (green arrow):
You could even take a hacksaw to it and remove it if you want.
What do I do with the larger hose that is currently on the bottom of the emission valve cover? Well you already removed it from the reed valve, if you follow it back to it's source you'll find it hooks onto the PAIR canister. Remove it from the canister and save it for a project or pitch it.

OK, thanks for the information. Just finished getting the valve cover back on and the block-off plate installed. Got some tests at the hospital tomorrow so hopefully on Wednesday I can get the rest of it back together. Thanks again.

The crankcase vent hose just put a fuel filter on the end of it and tie it up high someplace so if it squirts some oil out it will not get all over your motor. It has to vent so no kinks or hard bends on the hose. Alleyoop

On my SSR Rowdy the crankcase breather tube connects into the air filter box so I just hooked it back in its original position. I had one line from the PAIR system that went to the air box and on that one I siliconed a smooth shank bolt and installed it in the fitting in the air filter box. With the system removed it sure cleaned up the engine compartment. My carb was the type that has the sealed adjustment port so while I had the plastics off, I pulled the carb and drilled out the sealing cap. Info for that project is also available on this forum. This forum is a great source of information and I certainly appreciate all the work they do to make this info available.
