Thought I'd stop in and update my posting....I have nearly recovered from the back surgery. I feel surgery was a complete success as the pain is now completely gone....although I have some numbness in my leg that will remain....I've completed many sessions of physical therapy and have regained a lot of strength in my left leg. Best of all....I have been able to get back on my new RPS 250 Hawk motorcycle! I put 50 miles on the other day and all is well. I would not have thought there would be such a difference in how a bike rides but this one is like riding on a cloud....The road tires I installed contribute no vibration so they were a great change since the bike will never be off-road. I do miss the automatic clutch that my scooter had but I would not want to go back to that type of ride quality so I can live with the manual clutch. I'm confident I will be able to ride this bike until I am ready to hang it up rather than because of the pain it caused while on the old scoot...

Had nerves pinched at base of spine....went from groin pain to leg pain to numbness to feeling like a really bad sunburn, all at the same time....Only thing I can relate to causing it was I hit some really bad potholes in the yard while mowing a month or two ago that caused a blast of pain in the same area but that pain passed in a few minutes....
Each day brings improvement though so I am hopeful....

Wow, where to begin.....Was gone for the weekend attending my granddaughters softball games. They played well but lost in the finals....We stopped in Frankenmuth, MI on our way home for the typical Zhenders chicken dinnner. I knew by the time dinner was done that "something wasn't right".....Maybe you've had that ominous feeling....It was all I could do to make it out of the restaurant....Of course my daughter and my wife wanted to go to the local hospital but I said just get me to our home turf as I knew I was in trouble. Since we had several vehicles at the games my son in law, granddaughter, and I left for our home area hospital....(my wife uses a mobility cart which was in the trailer) where I was admitted for 7+days....Long story made short is they put a cage in l2-l3 area along with enough hardware to set off airport metal scanners a mile away....at least it felt like it. Thankfully, I am able to walk, however slowly it may be.... I was assured it will improve with time and may be even able to ride again at some point in the future. Right now, I'm thankful for the smallest things, such as being able to get into and out of bed...., to the bathroom, shower, etc...We are adjusting to this life change and taking one day at a time....It will be at least 3-4 months before resuming any work at all on the Hawk....but will post again when there is progress made, either by me or friends and family....

Just as a final followup on this order, Q9 processed the Certificate of Origin on the 21st of July. I have had a completely satisfactory experience with Q9 and I can wholeheartedly recommend them.

New front sprocket arrived and is installed. New front tire is installed. Rear tire is off the rim and need to install the new rear road tire. Gonna be gone for the weekend so will update next week....Getting excited to hear it fire for the first time....! Picked up the motorcycle lift at harbor freight. Sweet! Sure makes it easy to get it in the air. They had an open box item that was returned and it worked just fine. Was priced at $72 and manager let me use the 20% off coupon so that brought it down to a little over $50. Great deal! later...

Assembly has been straightforward. No suprises as of yet. Have put locktite on nearly every screw, bolt, nut, etc.... that could possibly loosen. New road tires will be here later today. Got a new front sprocket (larger) on order as it seems to be the #1 recommended upgrade. Will upgrade rear (smaller) when the funds allow. Still have a week or two before MCO arrives so I have time before getting it plated. Headed to Harbor Freight today to get a motorcycle lift. Should make things much easier as far as getting the tires on

Thought I'd post my experience with the Hawk 250 enduro. It was ordered from Q9 Powersports in Madison, WI on 28jun16 and arrived 6jul16. I'm having a procedure done at the hospital tomorrow and will be down for the count for a day or so....but will resume thread asap. The road tires I have on order (to replace the knobbies) will be here in a few days so will wait until they arrive to begin assembly.

Got a call from the trucking company yesterday and was given a noon-4pm delivery time frame for the Hawk. They arrived at 12:15 and used a lift gate to lower the Hawk down to my utility trailer. Box was in excellent shape so I'm confident it was handled well. All told, ordered on June 28, delivered on July 7. I will attach a couple of pics here then start a thread in the motorcycle section. After opening the box to verify VIN and engine numbers, (they did match the numbers stamped on outside of the box) I emailed the vendor (Q9 powersports in WI) the numbers to apply for the MCO and bill of sale....Shortly after that I received a confirmation email acknowledging that they had received the numbers. It is estimated to take 10 business days to get the MCO from the mfg. Overall, I'm pleased with this company. I'll update this thread when I have the MCO in hand.

Just finished placing my order for a 250cc Hawk Enduro motorcycle. I plan to install more suitable tires for my riding as it most likely will never see off road. I'm hoping with the larger suspension and road tires that it will ride better than my scooter did. It was ordered from Q9 Powersports out of Madison, WI. I will post updates on the progress of the order.

Thanks for the input. I will have to give it some serious thought. Makes perfect sense though. I am long past the "dirtin days" but some road tires on a long travel suspension might buy me a few more years. Thanks again.

For sale: 2012 Znen Rowdy 150cc scooter. Sadly I am going to be selling my Rowdy....Got back from todays ride and finally realized that my riding days are over....I have some nerve damage at the C5-C7 location and the ride really flared it up....so, it's time for it to go. (Parted ways with my cargo van for the same reason.) Scooter is in excellent condition. Custom racks front and rear. Storage pod on the rear and lockable bag on the front. New tires, a new Sears Diehard Battery, a new CVT belt, and a new windshield all installed this spring. It also has a 45watt/45watt hi lo beam headlight and an audible turn signal indicator. This scooter is ready to go. Clean, clear Michigan title. Just under 4000 miles. Always used Seafoam since day 1. No issues whatsoever..... This will be listed on Lansing, MI Craigslist. The price is firm at $1150. Cash only on pickup. Located in Pleasant Lake, MI, 49272, approx 12 miles NE of Jackson, MI.

Thanks for all the input.
Status so far:
Paint will be JD yellow for wheels, JD green for frame and most likely black for engine.
New brake and throttle controls were ordered and have arrived. That was really fast. One week from China to MI.
New throttle cable ordered and has arrived.
New brake cable ordered. Needed to wait until controls arrived to see what type of cable end would mate with them.
New kill wire installed. Originally a toggle switch was installed on the gas tank area. Not real convenient if it gets squirrely on you while trail riding. New controls have a push button, normally open switch on the throttle side. I would have preferred a slide switch that is either on or off but I missed that when I ordered the control.....we will see how this one works out.
Will keep you posted on progress.
Thanks

I was out for an afternoon ride the other day when I came across this minibike for sale. I stopped and just had to have it....It is a project for sure but it has good bones. It has an 8 HP Briggs engine. The fuel system wasn't hooked up but it fired with a shot of starting fluid. The torque converter looks intact and the tires hold air. Shouldn't take too much to get it operational and with a little paint it will sure look a lot better. The picture really doesn't show the size but it is sized for an adult. The tires are 21x11's.... I've tried to find a manufacturer name online but haven't had any luck. I originally thought it was of the El Burro line but that doesn't appear to be the case. Anyone got any idea on the manufacturer? Thanks for any input you may have. Price? $100! Not too bad of a deal.
