New to the board, but have been on many motorcycle forums from when I had my Shadow Ace. I have found most folks on these forums are chock full of information as I was on past forums.
Here's the deal, I just purchased a 2004 Eagle Tank 50cc for my son's first ride. It had been sitting outside for 2 years. I ordered a new battery for it and when we try to turn it over I get a buzz kinda high speed clicking sound from the solenoid. I pulled the starter and bench tested it first thing, starter is fine, tried jumping across the solenoid and nothing. I was told locally that it was probably the CDI. Any input would be great. Thx Damon

New battery did you charge it up, also you can test to see if the battery is putting out at least 12.5 volts with a Volt Meter. They are cheap some $10.00. If the battery is good and you jumped the SOLENOID then the Solenoid is shot sitting outside the internals are probably corroded.
Sitting outside for that long you will most likely have fuel delivery problems. You will have to take the carb off and clean the jets out and passages otherwise no fuel will be sucked into the motor they will be clogged.
I am sure it has a petcock that is on there and you can test that by taking the VACUUM line off near where it hooks up to the intake manifold and and apply suction to the vacuum hose. if fuel comes out and stops when you stop the suction the petcock is good. Also check your fuel filter to see if it is good and not clogged you can take it off and blow through it etc.. if it is black change it. Alleyoop

Hi, and welcome. I would also clean up the ground connections.

Thanks guys, Planned on carb issues and such, have the new fuel filter and after it sitting I need to drain the fuel out as well. It's a project, but it will be a good learning experience for the boy so when and when he does have an issue he will know where to start looking...
