Good evening, I have a 2011 Jon-way YY250T and it will not start. It turns over but nothing else, what should I do? What is the timing supposed to be set on?

When was the last time it ran and how many miles on it. What happened when this started to occur the no start?

Since it does turn over Check for spark. Take the spark plug out and ground it on the MOTOR and crank it and see if it has a nice blue spark.

If it has spark , when was the last time you adjusted the valves? If it has some miles on it, the valves may have tightened up and it is loosing compression.

Have you checked to see if gas is flowing to the carb, could be a bad Fuel Pump, Clogged Fuel Filter. If it has not run for quite a while the Pilot Jet and passage may be clogged.

You don't "time" these engines per se, just as you don't time an auto anymore. There's the CDI ignition module but you don't have an adjustment on that unit. As Alley said you do have to set the valves but that doesn't affect the timing. When assembling these engines you have to get the timing right with the cam chain, cam sprocket, and chain drive, but about all you can do there is botch the installation. Here's the service manual for the original Honda verticle engine in HTML. Yours is a clone of that Honda design but the manual is totally applicable. You might want to peruse through it. I'd also check to make sure the wires going into your ignition Coil are tight on both ends, I had that trouble, the wire going into my spark plug cap was very loose, Also make sure a vacuum hose didn't come off somewhere off.
