Alright I checked the ignition switch and it seems ok. When I measure the voltage at the battery it is that 12.83 V still, but if I measure it at the wiring harness by the ignition switch it is 6.something with the engine running. So it seems I have a short somewhere causing me to lose power. I reseated all the connections everywhere and it was not fixed. I'm frustrated.

The red thin wire coming off the battery has a FUSE on it, and that goes STRAIGHT TO THE IGNITION SWITCH. If you checked that wire then check the FUSE it is most likely a TUBE type fuse just take it out and replace it it could be bad they are usually 10amp fuses. Alleyoop

Aha! You're a genius and I am so upset with myself for it being so simple. It was the fuse!
I had tested it before with the continuity tester and it tested OK, but today I took it out and swapped it with a new fuse (fuses are cheap may as well) and all my problems are fixed..
I futtsed with the old fuse a bit and found that if I applied pressure on it in one direction it would conduct, and if I applied pressure on it in the other direction and it wouldn't. UGH!

FANTASTIC!! Easy fix, if you ever have some time and want to do something change that TUBE fuse to a BLADE fuse. The Tube fuses can go bad with a good pothole hit or a big jar. Most times you can see the thin wire in place in the tube and not broken but on either end which you cannot see may have come apart. You can get the BLADE Fuses at any autoparts store. Alleyoop

Thanks I might do that.
So another problem, my tachometer isn't working right. At idle it reads around 7000 RPM. If I give it any throttle at all, the gauge maxes out. Thoughts?

Well hope it is just bad connections, look in back of the instrument panel and see if any wires going to the tach are loose if not it has gone south. If it has gone south just get a TAO TAO tach they work great, it does not delay the reading as the cheapo ones on EBAY do. Good thing to is takes 5 minutes to install it, hardest part is deciding where to mount it. I bought just to try it even tough I have a built in tach in my instrument panel. Alleyoop Scroll down you can see it work: trailtech.net/tto_tach-hour.html
