So I've upgraded parts in the engine and it revs a lot better and higher than before. But when watching the variator the belt goes all the way, maybe even past the variator. And it flops around and you can see the rubber shavings falling off. How do I fix this? Bigger variator? Bigger belt would probably come off. Also i replaced the last belt with a cheap belt. Are you sure you got the right replacement size? Some belt movement is normal, this video shows about how much is to be expected:

What is at the top of the Variator or in front of the Variator or by the Clutch pulley. It is hitting something when the belt climbs up high. Take a shot of the complete CVT so we can see what is near the Variator either in front or on top or bottom. From the teeth on the FAN PULLEY you have a BENDIX sticking out for the ELECTRIC start and I would bet the belt is hitting the GEARs on the BENDIX. The only thing you can do is NOT ALLOW the belt to climb that high, either go with a shorter belt or lower your weight gram. Alleyoop

It's not hitting the bendix, because I took it out. I wasn't having this problem before I fixed my exhaust leak, got a new carb, with 85 jet. And I just put a free flow air filter in too. I have a video of it running. I'm Gunna try to post it when I get home.

I got some of those cheap belts coming in from Hong Kong, can't wait to shred them, Ha Ha ,
Check the rear pulley see if it is wobbling too much. When they get worn the slider part bearings get loose. This causes havoc on the belt.

Very common problem when someone puts a performance variator bigger in diameter which NOW will allow the belt to climb and hit the BENDIX. Many have run into that problem already your not the first by a long shot Right now the Belt is most likely weak and is stretched out and that is probably why it is flopping around. It would be good to get a VIDEO of it running and see if anything else is in the way of the belt. But unless it is hitting part of the kickstarter the only thing I can think of that it is hitting is the CASE and or CVT Cover. Alleyoop

The bendix was never in the scooter to begin with. Can't be hitting it. Gunna post a video today. A piece of the belt came off and started flapping around while filming so I ran. Lol

Piece of the belt actually came off, and smacked me and my gas line. I had to make my great escape. lol Yesterday I re-resticted my intake with stock, and stock carb and jet in hopes that that would fix the problem. No luck.... I was riding to test it out, herd the belt make a noise and the engine died. When I opened the cover the belt was inside out? ?? How the screw did that happen? The belt is pretty much wasted at this point, but i'm using it to test, before I put the new one on. Everytime I put the belt on the right was it ends up inside out. Also when compressing the clutch to get the belt back on, I noticed a rubber ring in the middle, where the belt woulld end up touching at high rpm. Its not broken belt because its perfectly round. I'm kinda questioning why this is there. I'm super annoyed! When can't the belt just go on like a normal bike and work.

don't worry, right now i am doing a study on how to use chain in cvt transmission, instead of belts....ugh!

That thing is the seal that is attached to the slider part of the outer pully drum. They come loose when the bearing surfaces wear out. If you see the seal your clutch pulley slide is worn out big time. That's what is wrong. Here is a totally fried clutch and a walking belt issue.
