Get a new stator but don't just hook it up blind. Check to see if the colors are the same on the plug for charging. Also you need to be aware there are 2 different types of single phase stators. 1 is half wave and the other is fullwave, You're describing a half wave setup. You will need a flywheel puller. Have a Drink.
Ohms reading on Ign coil on stator is like 500 ohms. Easy enough to check. I suspect it will read open.

start over, check the 3 yellow wires coming from the stator. do an ohms reading on them there wired like this the readings should be near the same on all wire combinations. Check the wires to ground they should read open. Checks good start engine idle and see if voltage is coming out on all 3 combinations. Next on to the regulator, Looks like this inside here what you are looking for is a shorted triac or shorted diode.. You can find it with a multimeter on diode setting. Follow the path and see if there is a shorted triac or shorted bridge rectifier diode. It is pretty simple. I suspect he got hold of a bad part. That's what is going on. if That don't work Yell at the DOg

That thing is the seal that is attached to the slider part of the outer pully drum. They come loose when the bearing surfaces wear out. If you see the seal your clutch pulley slide is worn out big time. That's what is wrong. Here is a totally fried clutch and a walking belt issue.

you can take out 2. 180 degrees apart. I did it and the rpms went way to high so it didn't work for me.

I got some of those cheap belts coming in from Hong Kong, can't wait to shred them, Ha Ha ,
Check the rear pulley see if it is wobbling too much. When they get worn the slider part bearings get loose. This causes havoc on the belt.

That's a funky URL it changes to this scoot.net/links.html may be a proxy server it is going through. Doesn't look like a php script and no database so no search. Have to use google. Looks like a home brew manual coded site. Don't see them much anymore.

2400 miles on the Zhuping. That's not bad. Did it grow thinner over time then schread. Or did it snap.
