Many people dont know this but the windshield fluid we spray to clean our car windows is very toxic. 2 tablespoons swallowed will kill a child. Not to mention all the leaking ant freeze all over the roads.

I changed my cars ethylene glycol antifreeze with the non toxic polyglycol antifreeze.

As for the windshield washer fluid I am going to drain it out and put dish washing soap in there.

Methanol, the main ingredient in windshield washing fluid, is extremely poisonous. As little as 2 tablespoons can be deadly to a child. About 2 to 8 ounces can be deadly for an adult. Blindness is common and often permanent despite medical care.

The ultimate outcome depends on how much poison was swallowed and how soon treatment was received.

Although many windshield washer fluids are a watered-down form of methanol, they can still be dangerous if swallowed.

The alcohol is there to prevent freezing. The idea of using dish soap may work in the summer but not in colder weather.

Just about everything in the world can be dangerous if not used properly. Including lots of foods we eat.

I have the polyglycol antifreeze in my car instead of the toxic ethylene stuff. Freezing point -40 boiling point over 200 I think.

The windshield washer fluid if you put dishsoap and some straight rubbing alchol in there it wont freeze.

You could mix 2 pints of water to 1/2 pint cheap watka. It wont freeze or kill. Unless you drink 5 or 6 gal. The polyglycol is what is used in a/c cooling towers

The methanol released from spraying windshield washer fluid evaporates away in just minutes (seconds?) - what's left is relatively quickly broken down (fed apon) by microrganisms in the soil - so no harm done. My guess would be that the environmental harm just from puttin' down the road is far more significant (or turning on home lights, or turning up/down the thermostat, or buying plastic-packaged food/drink, watching TV, doing laundry, mowing the lawn, ...or running the very computer that you're here surfing on, or... etc., etc...). Methanol in washer fluid is a non-issue, IOW.

i use this... i put one tablet in the reservoir full of water, excellent result, crystal clear windshield. no lie try it.

Those are probably ok where luke lives. To put a washer fluid in a car that lives in an area that freezes is just plain stupid. I used to work for a real cheap boss. He got a brand new ford service truck for us and as soon as the reservoir was empty he put his own concoction in while it was still warm in the fall. It froze and broke the housing for about a hundred bucks. Probably would have taken 15 years to use that much windshield washer fluid, but he saved till it broke.

I just got the 303 web site up and on the picture of package it says to add to your winter washer antifreeze. Here comes some more broken reservoirs.
