OK, yesterday I went to the local paper and order a week of adds for my scoot. I hope some folks call and show some interest.
I paid $2,000 for the machine and after 5 years of ownership I have accumulated about 250 miles of use. Spent lots of hours working on it and a bunch of dollars too. Sorry I did not get more use out of it. I think whomever does buy it will be able to get plenty of good miles now that I have done the investigating and fixing till I really found a bad problem and replaced the right side plate.
For the buyer I intend to give them all the parts I bought for fixing but never got a fix. So many parts I put on I took off and have kept them for future. I really did have a bad fuel pump, and the bad right crank case cover. Much of the other parts, Carb, sensors, temp controlls, what ever they may be called, are likely something the buyers may want to have handy and end those week or so days waiting for the replacement parts to show up.
Enjoyed my times working on the scoot and was learning a lot all the time. Time to sell as I am having problems walking now and balance seems to be wandering at times.
If I get a buyer I will let you know how it went and how much I got.
Enjoyed meeting all you folks.
Bob

A year ago I ordered the Honda Reflex book off the web for $10. It does cover the engine on my scoot but the body stuff is only ideas as my scoot body is all different. So engine for sure and the rest is ideas for the wiring, cooling, and accessories. Basic but good though.

OK, I just tried again and finally it seems to be working. Thank you to whomever managed to get things working again. You may need to enlarge it to see the actual damage I found. The image is really two parts which was one of the entire plate but did not show clearly the damage due to the distance and angles. So I then put the local damaged area as close to the glass as I could get it and took that shot. This was all done on my copier as I no longer have a decent camera to use. I was amazed to find such a damaged part hidden on my engine. Last summer it was running fine and one day my daughter wanted to ride it so she drove for about 10 minutes. When she got back the engine was leaking coolant and running hot. That was the beginning of my 6 months of covers on the garage floor and changing and replacing many things. It is now back together and running fairly well with a new right side plate. The visible damage to the right of the water pump area is because I had to get the metal tube for the coolant hose out. Force did not work so I just started to drill and drill till very little material held the tube in. I hope I am done with the repairs and replacements now.

I am going to click on 'Insert Image' now. Nothing happens now and I am signed in. Prior I could get the box about 'Browse' but it did not work even when I did find the image and want it open. I have been trying this for some many hours with no luck. I am now using the easy picture posting from the forums first screens. Something is wrong. I have used images and scans. Not at all sure it is the problem of the image program or if it is really some more of the MS messes created by Win10.
Just trying to post my picture of the damaged right crankcase cover that I eventually found and replaced.
Any help?

I have ended my constant digging around and searching for problems. I am now getting too old to mess with a two wheeler anymore. It is back to running reasonally well after about 6 months of covers on the floor and me laying on the floor replacing and trying to get things working. I am ready to sell it now. First one to offer me $3,000 cash will be the new owner. Just kidding for sure. When I do offer I will be reasonable. Only 250 miles on it for about 5 years of ownership.
One thing I found while trying to fix leaks was the right hand side plate. It had a major flaw in it that must have been filled with epoxy type stuff. A place for leaking for sure. I tried a patch that did not work so I ended up making the side plate change. Every thing seems tight now and it stays dry.
I have been trying for months to be able to handle scans and such with Win 10. I was going to print scans of this problem for others to see. Been working a lot to understand what to do, but still can not move my scan to this forum. I use Insert Image and when doing that it fails to follow my search and give me any connection.
I have been thinking of dropping Win 10 and moving back to Linux products. I once had some very good Linux products and hope they still make good products under Linux name. Windows in recent years has been a bunch of crap.
Would still like to be able to post my scan if someone knows and a beginner way to do it. My scan is now in my files under pictures. How to make it link to this forum in my post?

I just looked in my garage and I have 80W-85W transmission oil sitting on my shelf. Must be what I used.

What weight engine oil and gear oil? I have been using Pennzoil 10W-40. Others might join with their personal choice also.

Spark plug on the left side as you sit on it.
I would replace the gas and put in some SeaFoam cleaning agent. About an ounce for each gallon of gas in the tank. It is a cleaning agent that may help loosen things up that have been sitting too long.
Plug is near impossible to get too so you may need to take off some panels if that is where you want to search. Possibly just take off the seat and loosen the side panels mounting screws so you can slip them around a bit for views and access without taking them completely off. These scoots are not designed for service access.
On mine I also have the rear box and such also blocking removal. If serious then take the covers off so you can follow the hoses and wires from front to rear. To take the covers off you will also need to take the foot rests off and maybe even the mid way covers over the foot area. Not exactly sure how your scooter looks. If not necessary to remove the covers, don't do it. I had some troubles with misaligned when trying to reinstall. Once you do have them all off, leave them off till you feel sure you are ready to ride, not more fixing to do.

Oil? Drain from underneath. Remove the oil checking dip stick and slowly fill at that point. Fill till it looks near the top and then use the dip stick to check. DO NOT SCREW IN the dip stick to check your oil. It should read on the dip stick measure without screwing it down.
For the coolant, I use Prestone 50/50 that I buy at WalMart.
Start with throttle left alone, either brake must be on. I only start on the main lift as the auto rich controller puts the wheel into motion instantly on my scoot. The rpm's go well up into the clutch engaged position. It takes from one to two minutes for the engine rate to slow down. Then you can go ride. So start, put on your helmet and gloves while the engine slows down, then go for the ride.

While on the full stand, not the kick stand, I have adjusted my idle to where it runs best for me and my engine. My dash instruments are not usually real stable so my numbers may not be as true as some add on instruments might be.
I start from a cold engine and watch as my engine will climb up into the 2,000 rpm plus some more to about 2,500 rpm. Then at about a minute it will start to slow down and finally end up on about 1,200 rpm or 1,500 rpm. All done in about a minute and a half.
I am still working on my scoot, I believe it is the same as yours, has been going on for a long long time. I was asked to change the mixture screw also but on my scoot I could not find a way to do so as no access for finding the screw on the bottom of the carb.
So now I am slowly tweaking the carb when I have time. I am tweaking to avoid the mess I recently got away from. The engine would start from cold and go straight up to about 3,500 rpm showing. So I have had to slow down the idle to the 1,000 rpm level then the cold starts would be into the 2,000 rpm levels. Now I try to reset the idle while warm and on the stand to be in the mid level, about 1,500 rpm area and not pulling the wheel. My problem being that just a minor tweak on the throttle and the rear wheel starts to turn. I do have the throttle cable set to allow about a quarter inch turn on the outer edge of the grip.
I think the final rpm will depend on the engine and how it is set up with the valves, air system, fuel used, instrumentation, whatever. No two engines will be exact the same so for me getting it to run good is the secret. Exact would be the intended goal.
Hope it works for you, and have a good ride.

Well Alleyoop, I am still not sure about my idle. I can only go by my dash gauges and their accuracy. I still run it regularly to see how it is doing. My idle has been settling in to about 1200 on my instruments. Today I ran it again and decided to try to speed it up. Barely a touch on the screw and it started running much faster. So I did another lite touch on the screw to slow it down and now it idles at something less than 1500 but higher than the 1200 it has been running. So for now I give up again. Barely touch the throttle and the wheel starts to spin. I will try it again tomorrow and see how it reacts. Might be my last effort.
One thing I did that may be helping. Earlier I was complaining that during the warmup the idle would go well over the 3000 and nearly 3400 level of RPM's. Lately it has gone from start to near 2000 or 2400 but never to the 3000 or higher.
A while back I needed gas so I went and filled my 2.5 gal can with some of our high grade gas. Back in the garage I started by putting a bit over 2 oz of SeaBreeze gas additive into the tank then poured in enough high test to fill the tank.
Then after a few starts and warmups over several day I noticed the idle was much slower than before. Could that be because the SeaBreeze might have done something to the carb or engine to make it work better? Whatever, I am much better pleased with things right now.

Curious, your id area says 'Location EXUMA'. I posted that on my mapping program and it came up with a place in Denver. Is that a true location for you?
We once lived in Longmont and my daughter has a house near Golden that she intends to sell soon. I always liked Colorado and when retired I moved down to Cortez. When the doctors told me to consider ordering tanks for my breathing, I just up and moved to Arizona south of Phoenix. Four years of taking care of my Cortez property and in March this year it was finally sold.
I took a ride this morning and found the engine was changing speed. It would not drop down when I let go of the throttle so I went home and it was idling at near 2,200. A coupe quarter turns on the idle setting screw and it dropped on down to a bit over 1,000. Will try it again tomorrow. Will let every one know how it works.

I have given up trying to adjust the mixture on my engine. With the air tube and hoses I can not even feel the mixture screw with my fingers, let alone and hold a wrench to do the job. It may be easier on a 3 wheel machine. So I am back to assembled and running again. Still not ridden yet, but soon.
I find the engine on a cold start to go to about 2,500 quickly then go on up into 3,000 and even to 3,500 or higher. This lasts for about a minute then starts to slowly drop down and after a minute and a half it is again idling at about 1,500 and running steady. I don't remember it running so fast at start before all the fiddling and parts changing I had to do. But I could be wrong.
So once I get a chance to take a ride and see how the scoot behaves, if satisfied, I will try to sell for a decent price. If not running well I will list and tell any curious about the problems and will accept a decent bid for it. My goal now is to clear the garage and become an old man helping the wife to keep going. We have over fifty years together and would not mind a few more if possible.
