Wishful thinker...LMAO Down the street from me there is a BIG scooter store they sell Yamahas scooters and some other motorcycles. They have a slew of them in their fenced in yard that have been fixed but the owners cannot afford to pay the bill(HAHAHA). So they are just taking up space and after 6 months they can sell them if the owners do not come and pick them up. Alleyoop

yeah.. sometimes the bill is more than the bike is worth. BUT! if the shop cant fix a bike.. then I don't think they should be able to charge.... there has to be some kind of protection on things like that... LIKE say u take you car in for brakes and they change out your motor... then you shouldn't have to pay for a new motor... I know mechanics that are good people... but I also know some scum that will squirt oil on yur rear main seal and tell you that its leaking... wipe off the oil they put on... and slap a fat bill in your hand... I HOPE I CHOSE AN HONEST MECHANIC atleast...

alright.. I have another ?... I am reading the service manual from top to bottom for the Yamaha yp250.. which is same as my linhai... ya know... and it says that for the rear gear oil I should use 10W30... I used a 90W-- actual gear oil in it.. but this was after the problems started... but here's the thing.. when I adjusted the valves correctly I gained 10-15 mph but not all the way back up (went from 35-45 top speed to 45-55 top speed)........ could the gear oil be whats slowing me down now?i am grasping at straws....

QUESTION:: Did you change anything on the scoot besides the OIL or add something or take something off etc..? 150 I put in 80wx140 to make sure the gears keep some oil on them and not just run off. Also 10w40 is equivalent to 80w90 gear oil they number them different. So 10wx30 is pretty light oil equivalent to about 75w80 gear oil. But that is NOT your problem your motor revs up to high rpms on the center stand but will not take a load so the suspect right there is low on compression(power). The other thing might be is a Variator problem and allowing the belt to climb to quickly which will lower your rpms dramatically, Or your throttle cable is NOT opening up the butterfly all the way. If it was electrical it would miss or start acting up when you reached 55 or so and you would know something was wrong. But in your case you open up the throttle and it will only go to 55 and only 4000 rpms, which is good by the way BUT it should have more throttle to get to higher speeds and rpms. So what I am saying you should not have to twist the throttle all the way open to reach 55mph it should have more throttle left. So tell those idiots to check the compression and tell YOU WHAT IT REGISTERED also to check and see if the Throttle cable is OPENING up the BUTTERFLY all the way. If the compression is good and the throttle is opening all the way then Have them adjust the FUEL RATIO MIXTURE according to this procedure: www.scooterdoc.proboards.com/index.cgi?board=intake&action=display&thread=1499If it still has a problem then the problem is in the CVT. Just so you know all this you yourself can do by the way if you care to learn how to do it WE here will tell you and and also with Videos. But if you have deep pockets maybe they can figure it out by XMAS..LMAO Alleyoop

What are your rpms NOW??? I bet they changed out the Roller weights on you and are to heavy and that will cause the belt to climb to fast up the variator and will be very sluggish on the low end. It will give you top end speed but a DOG on takeoffs and mid-range.
Ask them what GRAM WEIGHTS they put in the VARAITOR. Alleyoop

I am at 4500 at 55mph... they said they put back in same weights.. but took all my grease out because they had never seen one with grease caked in it like mine....

Get ready to take the variator apart. The grease helps the weights move out and gear the bike up for more speed.
