I have had my scooter for about a month now and it was running perfect up tell a week ago.I was riding at about 55mph and it started to get sluggish.. cutting in and out and dropping rpms. At first I thought bad gas. But I drained the gas put in new and still has problem. Since this time the performance has gone way way down. I can't go over 30 mph now. When I put it on the stand it screams like a raped ape, 6000 rpm, but as soon as I either apply rear break or put it down, the rpms will not get over 3000. What can cause this? I have changed rear gear oil, oil change, adjusted the valve, and checked rear brake for flaws. None of these have helped at all. Anyone? Please help... this model is a clone of yamaha yp250.

Adjust your valves, it is probably loosing compression and is why it is dropping rpms. Alleyoop

What did you adjust the valves to, because it sounds like the motor has no power once some load it put on it. Alleyoop

Set the TOP INTAKE VALVE TO .004 INCHS and the BOTTOM EXHAUST VALVE TO .005 INCHS. Usually the EXHAUST will be the one causing the problems and not sealing after it get hot and if to open will loose a lot of compression and power. When you go get a set of feelers make sure the set has FEELERS that are .004, .005 and .006, some sets start at .008 for cars which is to wide for the scoots. Alleyoop

You will see the valve cover under the cylinder.... And as Alley says you have to use as Gage, go to the 250 section and see valve adjustments or go to U TUBE Magoo
