I have a 1986 Honda spree. I was told that the battery was new but the electric starter doesn't work. I charged the battery and it reads 12.6 volts when running. The starter spins but won't engage. Help....

Look on sectionb 8 page 14, that is your bendix that the STARTER TURNS. The bendix then slides out and meshs with the gears on the VARIATOR FAN PLATE to turn the crank to start.
So pull it out and see if the little gears on the STARTER are ok and meshing with the BENDIX. Also the BENDIS shaft sticking out GOES INTO A SLOT on the inside of the CVT COVER. That Aligns the BENDIX straight and holds it in position. Alleyoop
