I had to pick up a new pair of sneakers in Binghamton today. Before I left I asked the wife if she wanted to come along. Not only did she want to come along but she didn't flinch at passengering on the Fashion. Once underway it became pretty obvious after a few miles that this was going to be a warm ride. Now 86* may not be warm to those of you from Alabama and Arkansas, but for here that's about as warm as it gets. Maybe one or two 90* days but that's about it for here. Two days ago it got down to 44* so this yo-yo temperature effect makes a sudden rise to mid-80s feel steamy.
My wife is an excellent passenger so you don't even feel the offset in weight but the engine grunts pretty good with the added load. Taking curves off the interstate is not an adventure in wobbling with her and the bike tracked solidly through the bends. It also confirmed the wisdom of spending the extra money on a good Bridgestone tire.
Once we got to the store we really felt the heat and shed our leather jackets quickly, placing them in a handy shopping cart to push around the store instead of carrying them on our shoulders. After a short search I found what I needed and we left the store.
My wife suggested that we stop at McDonald's for soft drinks to cool off and soak up some AC. We spent twenty minutes sitting there sipping our sodas and conversing before we continued on. I kept the scooter at a sane pace but it was easy to see the cooling system was working. Every time I stopped the fan was running, but the heat gauge never rose above three bars.
When we got in the driveway we yanked off the leather jackets quickly again and listened to the fan singing its little song. We traveled a good eighty miles today and the scooter performed well. My wife said, "That was fun" which is her stamp of approval. As I noted once before she only rode on the back of my Kawasaki but once. This is about the third or fourth trip on the back of the scooter. Who would have thought a CF Moto 250 would become the choice machine for shopping?

Well, where I am, the 80's will be called nice and cool. This time of year we are by noon over the 100 mark and the worst is still to come. Last year I believe that we peaked out one day at 117.
But then in the winter we do not have to worry about blizzards and lots of ice.
My sister is in Albany and she says she could never live out here in Arizona with our hot temps. But I bet she would like to share a bit of our winter temps. . .

Here's why it's so cool. My wife doesn't need to bum rides off of me, she has her own little rocket and she's not afraid to use it. The Rebel has an 85 mph speedometer and one day, after riding to Binghamton on the Interstate, she came home to tell me, "I pinned the speedometer today." That's why it's kind of nice that she'll still hop on back of mine.

That is why she rides so smoothly when you are driving. She knows to go with the flow and not try to adjust her balance as you lean into turns. .
