My voltage regulator went out and I have to wait untill payday to replace it. When I unplug it it disconnects all power from the stator to the rest of the bike. The only light I would loose is the ac headlight which I don't need during the day. All other lights will run off the battery, and i'll have to manually charge it.
However the bike still runs. Will the lack of current being drawn to the lights effect the stator? Or would it just help spark?

Unhook all of the stator wires, especially the ground. The only way a stator or generator can produce current is if the electrons can move. If the wires aren't hooked up nothing can happen

HOLD YOUR HORSES BOYS, bunch of ROOKIES Unless his CDI is a DC CDI getting voltage from the battery how is the CDI supposed to get voltage to fire the plug if the stator is disconnected. Alleyoop

It will last longer if he waits for the parts he needs!

Keep in mind that nothing electrical will work except your engine. Your auto enricher will stay closed, no lights after the battery goes dead, no horn to beep at the lady's.

His motor will not work either UNLESS his CDI is a DC CDI and he has a good battery. But his scoot is AC so his motor will also not work if he disconnects the stator. Alleyoop

Yeah, you're right Alley that one sailed right over my head. He could hook up just the red/black wire from the magneto coil to power the CDI. Hey, you'd have to hook up the trigger coil too. Stop the presses, you'd lose your auto-choke without the yellow wire. I think you should just wait for the part.

I'm sooooo lost??? All I know is my bike runs when I disconnect the voltage regulator, just I get no lights or charging from the stator. Ac CDI, good battery. All lights run off of the battery witch I charge manually. I'm just gunna go by my own judgement since nobody can give me a straight answer, and always has something smart to say. After all I get paid soon. If I f*ck up the stator i'll just buy a new one.
