Suddenly after years of riding and garage kept, I started my bike and rode as normal but when I put on the rear brake the engine died...electrical short. Charged the battery, same thing happens now. I am replacing the brake switch, but would this more likely be the starter circuit? It's been too hot to start exploring, so wondered if this has happened to anyone else so I can narrow the search?

When you press the brake does your stoplights come ON? If check the wires going to the light sockets in back they are not the greatest and have been known to come out and ground stuff out. Alleyoop

I went to the store...parked...came out...no start. Rolled eyes and jumped up down on seat and it started. Duh! Sputtered on and off going home. Looked at fuse near battery and one blade was lose but just enough to get me home. Replaced and Tah--Dah.
