This may not be what you want to hear but here's the problem. The Lazer 5 has a two speed gearbox. Slow and faster. If I recall correctly you have to stop and put it in one gear or the other. Imagine a five speed gearbox on a car. Think about how it would accelerate stuck in fifth gear. It would creep off from start, slowly build speed and eventually reach top speed. Here's the other side of the coin. Same engine by the way. It has four speeds, foot shift and a semi automatic clutch. It takes off well and builds speed (about as fast as a 50cc will) and runs 45 to 50 mph once in fifth (oops, 4th) gear. Having a moped is convenient but is built to be used in an urban setting where running slow is the norm. Bigger sprockets, big bore kits and hot CDI won't overcome using a single gear (not a variator) to run from start to top speed. It's a great moped, it will bring you hours of fun but it won't give you whiplash.

Sorry to deliver the bad news. Man, 72cc! If I was running that cylinder I'm thinking that 55 mph would be attainable. I won't tamper with what I got though. It was more than good enough for this. scooterdoc.proboards.com/index.cgi?board=talk&action=display&thread=8209and it gave me 133 mpg while doing it. Have fun on the Lazer, I've seen videos of it in action and it looks like fun.

Yep if its a TWO SPEED AUTOMATIC then to get more UMP starting then you need a BIGGER REAR SPROCKET not a smaller one. But then again that will then limit your top end speed. So you may need to find a sprocket in between so that you will not loose to much top end but gain some low end power. Alleyoop
