Hey guys I've got a 50cc taotao that I just picked up. It's my first Chinese scoot. I got it as a project. It was not running when I got it, I charged the battery cleaned the carb put a new spark plug in it and I got it to fire. But it will only stay running for like 10 seconds and only if I have the starter cranking for a while and only if I have it cranked to full throttle. I cleaned the carb twice and drained the fuel tank and lines and it seemed to run better for a second or two then died out again. Any help would be awesome, thanks!

First thing you want to do is Adjust the Valves set them both to .003 inchs, then turn the Fuel Ratio Screw clockwise until it stops and then turn it out 2 1/2 turns. At that setting if It is getting fuel it should start and idle and run pretty descent. Once it is running you can fine tune the carb to get the highest idle out of the fuel mixture screw. Then lower your idle so that the rear wheel is NOT spinning just maybe to the point it wants to turn. Alleyoop
