I have this vent from my fuel tank to this plastic piece that is in the front of my seat. The plastic piece has three hose attachment nipples on it. The line from the tank is connected to the center nipple, and the two side nipples are connected to each other with a loop of hose. I don't know if this is correct since I have no reference, but this looks like a useless vent that I can get rid of. I have a 150 that has the same gas tank, except it does not even have a nipple for this vent hose. I have posted pics below so that it is clear what I am referring to. If anyone has this same setup please let me know how yours is connected. The yellow arrows show the line connecting to the top of the tank, and to the center of the plastic piece, plus the plastic piece itself that mount near the front of the seat. Here is a closeup of the connections to the plastic piece. The yellow arrow is the vent line connecting to the center nipple. The two blue arrows are the loop of line connecting the two sides together. Here is where the plastic piece normally mounts. this makes it a pain to rear the seat assembly to do work, so I won't to trash this whole thing if it is not necessary.

Yea you can just take one of the VENT hoses and put a fuel filter on the end of it so no dirt gets in there and get rid of everything else IT is just a VENT and to trap and send the fumes back to the tank. Some have a big black canister that one hose from the canister goes back to the Air Intake so the fumes get burned again. Alleyoop

Does the other vent hose go to the black canister? If you don't have one of those then it might be your fuel vent as alleyoop mentioned. Never seen that specifically though.

Borris,
If you look carefully at the picture above that shows the fuel tank there is a second vent line. That second line goes to the little round canister that mounts on the side of the fuel tank. If you look carefully at the picture you can also see that little round canister is tucked up into the frame near the engine just below, and slightly right of the upward pointing yellow arrow.
I have decided I will leave that white plastic piece connected. I will just make a mount to move it up under the handlebars were the alarm used to be.

Vansmack2,
Sorry if I wasnt clear, I was tracking the second vent line; thats what I was asking about. Sorry I wasnt much help, I'm as boggled as you are. If it is not for trickling some form of additive into the tank, I wouldnt know what it is.

The second vent line is the return back to the tank. Alleyoop
