Hey everyone, I'm gonna need some help to figure this one out. I have a 150CC scoot that I had converted to the 11 pole stator and 7 wire VR back in the spring, the bike was brand new at that point. The other day all A/C stopped working(no headlight and no brake running light, DC brake circuit works though). I stripped down the plastics and started in with the multimeter. I was getting no voltage off the stator with the VR hooked up but as soon as I disconnect the VR I got 30VAC approx at idle off the stator between 1 phase and ground. I ordered an new VR and installed it, had A/C power for a few minutes then nothing again. VR was a little warm but not hotter than the VR on an exact duplicate working bike(that has the same stator/VR upgrade) So my question is do I have a bad stator or would it probably be the new VR is DOA? Or am I missing something else entirely? Any help would be appreciated. My GF is anxious to get my bike up and running so we can ride together again before winter

where did you get the kit ? you might want to check the voltage yellow to yellow at idle and at 4 to5k rpm with the stator disconnected .

It sounds like you keep roasting the regulator aspect of the R/R. That is usually a short either in the bike's wiring or the stator. Try testing each leg of the stator in series by disconnecting one yellow wire and using a jumper like this:
I don't know the spec values for your stator but it should be about 30v AC at idle and 60+vAC with some RPMs. All three legs should have the same values or the stator is shorted. Then check continuity from each yellow wire to frame. You should have no continuity, if you do it's your stator. Then check continuity between each yellow and the other individual yellows. You should have no continuity between legs, if you do it's your stator. The other possibility is a short in the bike's wiring. You'll just have to test all of the circuits, especially the AC wires, a short will tax the R/R until it fails.

Tests done. With bike running i have idle@3500rpm(normally 2k but obviously the enricher isn't kicking in) Yellow wires from stator with meter inserted in series: L1 25v AC L2 24v AC L3 29v AC With bike not running: No continuity between L1 & Ground, L2 & Ground or L3 & Ground With bike not running: I have continuity in all scenarios(pics of these 3 tests attached) L1<->L2, L1<->L3 and L2<->L3 If I have this right than I need a new stator and another new RR

unplug the regulator measure yellow to yellow in acv rev to 4 or 5k rpm and post the results .

Joy :/
Guess I'm chasing down shorts in the wiring.
