Theoretically, what is the MAX voltage I can apply to my battery without causing it any harm but only charging it? I need to take down my voltage because my stator is turning out 18 volts at idle So I need to know what voltage I should look for once I get my parts from John (ballast resisters!)

Yes, anything 15 and higher will cook the battery, optimum charging is 14.7 and that usually will show up with some RPMS. Although some will show that at idle. Alleyoop
