I have 2013 IB Trike two in the rear. The coil over shocks do not work. When traveling over bumps holes etc. I just fly of the seat. I had a 250 pound person bounce up and down on the seat. The frame flexed and the shocks only move about 1/2 inch. It's brutal on the body . The coils are adjusted to lowest setting . Need lighter springs are they available and where. Thanks scooterbob.

I don't know bob, mine do not have springs they are your regular looking shocks with a spring in side and not on the outside. You can probably measure them and get aftermarket ones some folks have done that. Alleyoop

Thanks Alleyoop. I can't understand why they put such heavy shocks on 50cc scooter. Also I have the four brackets on the rear frame. I'll do some measuring and see if I can get shocks better suited for the weight this light scooter.

Well pulled the shocks off. If you put these shocks on a car I don't think they would compress. I'll cut a couple of coils off and see what happens. The shocks have very little resistance in both directions .Hey Alleyoop tomorrow I'll measure the length expanded and retracted and if you would measure your shocks I would appreciate it. I'll have a starting place to find a softer combination.

I cut two coils off the springs and turn out the thread on upper eye. The springs were compressed way to much. I'm happy to say it worked out great. I now have some spring action and a smoother ride.

Hello scooterbob, I'm very interested in what you did with your springs. I also have a 2013 IB trike and it rides like a mack truck. I thought the shocks were a bit stiff and wondered what I could do to smooth the ride. Typically, those springs are tempered steel. Would you mind telling me what did you use to cut them off? Shally

Hi shally: I used a angle grinder With a cut off wheel. Harbor Freight has a angle grinder for 10 bucks and also have the cut off wheels. Cut thru the coils like butter. The hard part was getting the nut inside the spring held so I could unscrew the end to get the spring off. I forgot what size the nut is. Need a thin open end wrench. Pry the spring apart to get to the nut. When you cut two coils of each one. You need to grind the end of the coil fairly flat like the coil you cut off . Set the end that you unscrewed on the spring to see if set fairly straight . When you screw the end back on just snug it against the spring . Make sure both springs are the same height. Also remember the rear tire max pressure is 5 psi. its confusing because it says 25 psi to seat the tire to rim when installing a tire.
