While riding my 2013 IB Trike, I had a feeling that my rear brakes just didn't seem to be helping as much as it should. When I would set the parking brake while on a slight incline, it had the tendency to roll backwards unless I set it on the second notch. When I checked the rear caliper, I found the brake pads do not have full contact with the rotor. The pads look to be high about a 1/4 inch above the rotor. I removed the caliper but found no way to adjust it lower. Looks more like the rotor is to small. Has anyone else experienced this situation? Does anyone know what to do, short of making a shorter mounting bracket? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Shally

When your stopping use the brake by hand if it stops your scooter. Your good to go. I can push my scooter back wards with the parking brake set to But stops find when using the brake with my hand.

The pads should not be sticking out from the rotor, Are your sure the Caliper is mounted onto the right holds on the bracket. Also look at the bracket it may need to be turned the other way around to lower the capliper.
Take a couple of picture of it shally maybe I can spot what is wrong. Alleyoop

To scooterbob, Thanks for the reply. Yes, it does stop the scooter if I apply enough pressure. I'm just not comfortable with the fact that setting the parking brake at the 1st notch is not sufficent to hold the scooter on a slight incline. Since the entire brake pad is not making full contact with the rotor, I'm not only loosing a portion of braking power but I'm also getting excessive wear and a potential total failure when I may need it most.
To Alleyoop, I had removed the caliper assembly hoping to find some sort of adjustment but there appeared to be none. I will remove it again and disassemble the mounting bracket. If I still don't see a simple solution, then I will take some pictures and try to post them here. I have considered elongating the mounting holes if push comes to shove. Shally

As far as the parking brake Mine always has to be on the second notch even when new. Now you know the rear brake is not that strong, its the front brake that will do the strong stopping. I use both brakes when braking, if I just have to slow up I apply just the rear brake.
But you can lock up the rears if you squeeze them hard, and the it will slide (HEHE). Alleyoop

Well, at least I now know my parking brakes are not an issue. Stopping is. Although I can slow down using the rear brake, there is no way I can lock up the rear wheels even using two hands. I tried! I doubt it will ever become an issue but I will just feel better. All-in-all, I am very happy with my IB Cyclone. I really expected more problems for the price. Knock on wood! Shally

Did you do what I did a couple of times. Leave the parking brake when driving. It sure wares the pads down.

On mine as soon as you squeeze the brake again it releases the parking brake automatically. Alleyoop

Alley, attached (I hope) is the only clear picture I could get of my rear brakes. As you can see, the brake pads actually extend above the rotor by about a 1/4 inch. I couldn't figure out how to use that photo site that you talk about so I had to send the pic by email to me and attach it from there. I have difficulty understanding written instructions. My brain won't absorb it. Shally Attachments:

What is that piece in the middle of the PADS?? maybe they are supposed to be like that and that piece lets you know your pads are at their limit when the top of the pads hits that piece it will make some kind of noise. Alleyoop

I believe it is mirage or reflection caused by the flash. It is not there now nor does it show up in the other pictures. here is a pic from the other side. Sorry, picture didn't make it. Sometimes, I hate computers.
