Got back from our trip and tried to start my scooter, it was trying to run then all of a sudden the starter kept on running and by the time I got the seat up to unhook a battery cable it had run the battery down. Now when I try to hook up a battery cable the starter runs, any idea's on what is wrong or what I need to check? kalee

The SOLENOID is probably stuck you must of been cranking and cranking to get it started and heated up the SOLENOID. Give the SOLENOID a little whack on top and see if the CONTACTS inside disengage. Alleyoop

Thanks Alley, I will try that, I didnt run it constantly it would fire then I would let off then try again. It acted like the fuel had drained back to the tank, If I had charged the battery first it might have been alright. It turned over really good but then the starter stuck and it went down hill in a hurry kalee

Alley, That done the trick I whacked the starter solenoid a couple of times and was able to put the battery cable back on without the starter running. Rolled it outside an got it to running and took it for a ride around our park. Thanks again Alley for the info kalee

Alley, is there any difference between a 150cc & a 300cc other than engine size. Isnt the running gears basically the same? kalee

Good to hear the SOLENOID disengaged, now you know another TRICK(HAHA).
Yes the running gears are basically the same on the scoots except for maybe the shafts but they all operate the same way. Alleyoop

Wow, does this ever bring back memories. Had a '68 Roadrunner with the same problem. Every once in awhile would have to give the solenoid a gentle whack with a wrench to free it up. My post in no way contributes anything to this thread, but please indulge an old man reminiscing.

I thought I was going to have to replace something to get the starter stopped but Alley solved that problem for me . Its good to reminisce there is always something that sticks in the back of our minds that reminds us of something we had to do to get our vehicles going again. kalee

80's ford solenoids were good for that problem . Once it would get stuck it was a warning to go buy a new one . Same with the scooters .
