FWIW, when my trike arrived, both mirrors were broken. I contacted Jim at Rapid and he sent me two mirrors (on his own dime, better mirrors than came on the trike, and he paid for overnight shipping)so I could ride it right away. There were also a few other issues,,,,,,to be expected on a Chinese-made vehicle,,,,,,,,that Jim took care of immediately for me. First thing billtrek, is get rid of the horrible,tiny-chrome air filter. It's useless and smothers the engine so it won't run above 20mph. Tom

Congrats on the purchase, they are fun little buggers. Do a thorough inspection upon delivery, sh*t can happen in transit. Make sure the shipper notates any damage, and take pics. Jim at Rapid Repair will handle any warranty claims for you. Great guy. As for break-in, I decided to go this route: www.mototuneusa.com/break_in_secrets.htmHave had no issues, trike runs strong, no oil burning etc. Have fun! Edit: Woops, just noticed that your post was 2 weeks ago so I'm guessing that trike has already arrived. How you like it?

Thanks KZ, thought I might have been missing something. Anybody know what is the purpose of this secondary drain plug?

Oil Filter

Ok, I'm a little confused. I've changed the oil twice now on my GY6 150cc, at 50 miles & at 150 miles (trike has 250 on it now). Will change the oil again soon, before riding season. I've never drained the "drivers side", & both times it took the proper amount of oil to fill it back up. So I don't think I'm missing any oil during drain. Wasn't even aware that there even is a second drain plug. In the video Alley posted the gal only drains from the main plug. Assuming my engine has this additional plug (it's dark & cold here right now, I'll check later today), how much additional oil should I expect to drain from there?

Bear or Lion? Pics please! Unlike others, I thoroughly enjoy your rambling, nonsensical, attention-seeking posts. Thank you for keeping me amused! Tom

Same problem here, even feathering the nozzle creates back-splash. I believe the problem is actually caused by the bar itself, gas hits it and bounces out. I've read in other posts that folks have solved the problem by removing the bar. I'll be doing this when (if) it ever warms up around here.

Well, an update. Temp today is in the lower 40's after a horrible cold spell last week (actual lows of -15, wind chill of -40). Started the trike today for the first time in a couple weeks. Took several tries but finally got her running. Here's the goofy part,,,,,,,high idle only went to 2200rpm, not 3400 as it usually does. It then settled in at a normal idle of 1600rpm after a couple minutes and remained there for the half hour I let it warm up. If it would do this all the time I'd be happier than a cat on a sand dune! This is the first time that high idle hasn't gone nuts, and I've started the trike before at similar temps. Any thoughts about what made the enricher behave so nice today? Is it too much to expect ongoing good behavior? Or is it just screwing with me like an ex-wife?

Thanks Bashan & Alley for your helpful responses. Here's a bit more detail: The original carb that came on the trike idled at around 2400 rpm during warmup. This carb was defective from the get-go (could only do 30 mph before massive sputtering) so Jim from Rapid Repair ordered me a new one under warranty. Before the new one arrived, I ordered the HP carb from Scrappy on the recommendation of my local scooter mechanic (he said the construction quality is far superior to OEM). Kept the replacement carb as a spare. Cold idle was immediately about 1000 rpm higher with the HP carb. This wasn't a big issue during riding weather, as I would just immediately take off & let the high idle propel the trike to the end of my street. By the time I reached the main drag the idle had settled down to a normal 1800 rpm. I've adjusted the idle speed & it had no effect on the enricher's steroid-enhanced action. When the weather warms up (if ever) I'll adjust the fuel ratio mixture to see if that helps. Also I'll instal the HP intake, which I ordered after the carb & never got around to installing. I should change my sig to reflect that, my bad. Thing is, the trike runs like a bear, pulls strong through the whole power band. The only problem I'm experiencing is the ridiculously high cold-idle.

Good info! So to "override" the enricher could heat be applied to it (say, a blow drier) prior to firing up the engine, and then just use the throttle to avoid stalling? My problem is that the cold start idle is 3400 rpm (2500 would be ideal) and the clutch engages at 3000 rpm, so I have to lock the trike brakes while the enricher does it's thing. I'm sure this isn't doing the clutch plates any good during my weekly winter-warmup session. Only other option I can think of is to put the axle on jack stands for the winter and just let the rear wheels spin away to their heart's content during warmup. Or am I overthinking this and no harm is being done during the 2-3 minutes of brake torquing during warmup?
