It started snowing and icing at 8 today, this is what it looked like at 2 looking out my front door:

I walked a bit outside and it was slick but there was some traction:

I ventured out to the end of the driveway and took a pic of my house:

then I turned to shoot down the back driveway and nearly fell on my arse:

Enough of that, I headed for the inside. The pisser is the wife went to work out at the gym about 4 miles from here at about 8:15. By the time she got done the snow was falling pretty fast. About 1/2 way home a school bus was turned sideways in the road. She spent an hour there unable to go forwards or back. She finally got turned around and by then the roads were treacherous. She barely made it to a strip mall and is stranded in Hartley's, a country cooking place. Two bad things, she hates country cooking and no booze. She's probably stuck there all night.

That really stinks Rich. Someone stocking studded snow tires would make an instant killing. I hope Sue gets home alright. That's what really counts.

I hate to say it boys,,,but i'm going to anyways,,,i'm from buffalo,,i got my degree and i scrammed out of there as fast as my a** would go,,,miss the people miss the food miss it in the summer (sometimes,,lets not get carried away),,,but i don't miss that,,and to make me out to be a bigger DI(K than i normally would be i'm going for a ride in about half an hour when i get home to honor you poor misguided slobs,,,,err i mean gentlemen,,,and except when ridin i have not had long pants on in 3 or 4 years,,don't even know if my furnace still works,,haven't turned it on in five at least,,probably 8 if i look at it hard enough,,,it's rough

the first time i went to NY 10 years ago straight from asia, i got traumatized with the cold weather, it was 6F, i wore 5 layers of sweater and didn't take a shower for 2 weeks literally. And it was my very first time to put lotion on my arms and legs because they were cracking and flaking....
i could not imagine people living in edmonton canada where temps are as low as -80F...it's not funny anymore.
come down to the west and southwest,,,you'll enjoy your life to the fullest...well cyborg did the move,attaboy!!!
but you have a really nice home rich!!!

I heard there were some people in Alabama laughing at us when we had an ice storm a month ago! Actually this has to be the worst winter since I moved here and I feel your pain. When that sort of crap happened last time I was ready to trade to a snowmobile. All the years in Il and Ia, I have never been tempted to try to ride one.

I lived in Toledo until I was 25, I know exactly how you feel my semirobotic friend. We weren't laughing John, this winter has sucked. I moved to Atlanta to go to school and the first week there they sent us home for a looming ice storm. I bought some...uh...vitamin water and sat waiting for the storm. After a 1/4" of ice stopped I said "when does the storm get here?". My southern room mates said...."that's it man....it's dangerous." I said "AYFKM?!" I got in my car and drove around for a while. I ended up going back to the apartment because NOTHING WAS OPEN!! Back to the present, good news! I heard a loud motorcycle sound and went to the front door to see what all the commotion was. A large ATV slides to a stop and the wife hops off the back like she was an expert and a sultry looking guy roars off and HEY!!! I don't like the looks of this!! Oh well, I get a hot meal tonight....wink wink nudge nudge!  Seriously, her car got stuck trying to get home and a guy from our neighborhood brought her home. OK Cyborg, I'm sure you've heard it....what is the difference between Buffalo NY and yogurt?.....tick tick  tick  tick....yogurt has an active culture!!! Thank you Luke, my wife picked it out. She picked up a book of plans at a book store, dropped it, it fell open to our house and she shouted "that's it! that's the one I want!!" I said "um...did you see that smaller one next to it? Huh? no? really? OK, there goes that early retirement." True story.

Guess who's living the zero and below temperatures this winter? We keep getting pelted with the Arctic Vortex and it's cold. Even my Black Lab is loath to go out these days. I wouldn't even try to test start the Honda Rebel for fear something would snap. My car groans to life every time I fire it up. I know there are whole factors at work but it's really hard to believe in Global Warming at a time like this.
