The problem here is we don't know what bikes are available in the UK. When you said YZF 125 the first thing that popped into my head was a two stroke motocross bike. This bike is made by Bashan. www.peacesports.com/sports-bikes/485-tpgs601-125cc.htmlAre they available in the UK? How about WK? Do they sell 125 bikes there? My experience is that Chinese scooters are great bargains but require care and feeding. Chinese bikes , on the other hand, are much more durable. Yamaha makes great bikes, no doubt, but I think you get a good 125cc Chinese bike and live happily ever after with it for much less.

Hiya, I'm from the UK so can probably offer some advice. However, you need to give us much more information. Such as what you will be using it for. Do you intend to ride on a CBT or move up to doing your full bike license? There's a lot of love for Chinese bikes here, and I'm quite keen on mine too. But I know their limits, and they'll show depending on how you intend on using it. Lexmoto would be the largest UK importer of chinese bikes and have a number of styles for all sorts of people. Then you've got your slightly more expensive stuff such as WK or SYM who are quite popular over here. Then you've got the mainstream Jap brands such as Honda and Yamaha. The latter two will enable you to have the highest possible power output taking you to the limits of a CBT on L plates.

My two cents here. I have a 71 yamaha at1, 125 two stroke. I've had two of them and both ran like champs. You can't beat them for a first bike, in my opinion. They are old though and the look is def not for everyone. Since you are in the UK i'm not sure that's an option though.

Wow! Those Lexmoto 125s are nice and priced anywhere from $1200 to $2200 US dollars. www.lexmoto.co.uk/I'll take an Arrow, please.

Yes, the lexmoto stuff is quite good for the money. The spares backup is brilliant. I get all my stuff from them. My bike is a Sinnis, which is just another importer and slightly more expensive than the lexmoto stuff. Mine came from a lexmoto dealer and is the same bike as the lexmoto valencia all but a few body panels. At current exchange rate my bike was $1767USD
