Its the peace 50cc same as the taotao50. I want the best sparkplug money can buy. I was thinking about an NGK Iridum Ngk7544. I'm unsure of the current plug that's in it but will be looking in to it tomorrow.
Also what oil should I use? The sticker called for 15w40, and from my looking at auto zone that's diesel oil? (Shell rotella). Is that what I should use?.
Weather here in northwest Arkansas has been low 80's this past week and winters are usually fairly mild to damn cold. Sorry for so many questions, I'm a total noob when it comes to these tiny scooters

Iridium plugs are about the best you can get. The one in mine has over 6,000 miles and is humming along. You should have adequate protection with a good petrol based 10W-40. After 1,000 miles you can switch to synthetic. My 150cc has over 7,500 miles on nothing more than regular oil, while my 250cc is using synthetic at 7,000 only because that was what the shop it came from prescribed.
And no, Peace and Tao Tao are two different companies with a common heritage. GS Motorworks sold Peace (Bashan) first and then was bought by Tao Tao to distribute their scooters. GS Motorworks had established themselves as a first rate importer and Tao Tao leaned on them heavily to discover what would work best in their new scooter line. Bashan is now sold by Green Earth Scooters and is the sales arm of Peace.

Do you not get motorbike specific oil over there? Ours specify that stuff.

Do you not get motorbike specific oil over there? Ours specify that stuff. Yes, we do. The only difference between bike oil and regular is the bike stuff has more zinc. Keep in mind that a scooter has a separate gear box and engine like a car. Bike specific is good where the transmission is crushing the oil molecules causing shear. That's why a good 85W-90 gear oil is recommended for the transmission and they recommend 15W-40 (diesel engine oil) for the scooter's engine.

Another little question, how come diesel engine oil over petrol engine oil then? Either way, car oil is cheaper here which is a bonus!

I can't answer that for sure but it might be that diesels run higher compression and are heavier duty. The Chinese might think that's a plus in lubrication. I use Mobil 1 0W-40 in my 250cc. I just noticed yesterday that it's rated SN. I don't know what that means to me but all the oil I bought a few weeks ago are rated SM. I only know that today's oil is worlds better than the oil of thirty years ago.
