<there's a tl;dr version at the bottom)
So... After running my scooter out of gear oil and melting the bearings it was time to rebuild the rear end. Autozone wanted $23 USD for the bigger bearings that support the wheelshaft. I found a local bearings store on the other side of town and once I got my bearings I went and got my bearings:-P This small bearing shop charged me $17 bucks, for the same or even better than what auto zone would of had to order and the quote was $48 bucks for 3 of the small bearings and the 2 big one
With the scooter being on the stand in my garage and not able to be drove all this week while trying to track down parts I decided to change the oil and spark plug. According to the scooter it uses disel weight oil? 15w40 is what the sticker said and that's what I bought. Put around 100 miles on it since. I am the third owner of this SCOOTer and its only got 3thousand miles on it , and the plug was factory installed plug still on the engine.. Jesus h Christ.... I put a NGK in my scooter and its like night and day difference. . It didn't like to start after being ran a while , and when I got gas I'd have to wait 5 minutes before the scoot would even start.
now it always starts with just a blip from the start button. I need to adjust the idle about a 1/8 turn faster. I just wish the carb air fuel mixture screw didn't have a cap on it.
I ended up driving home from Fayetteville,Arkansas on back country paved roads and got pulled over for speeding...yes I got pulled over for speeding on my tiny 49 cc scooter. The cop had clocked me doing 36 in a 30 . The cop was nice and let me go with just a verbal warning. Before the rebuild my scooters realistic cruise speed was 25mph, today I was doing 36 mph and it wasn't even an insanely steep hill.just like a 1% grade going down hill.
It was quite a pleasure to ride today as the weather was b e a utiful ..what variator weights would you reccomend? Take off and fop end seems pretty good , I just want a few more rpms frommthe engine for these roads that have insanely too many hills

Yep. 200 bucks spent and a week wasted chasing parts.,
Also. I'm getting some leads on starting A scooter junkyard here.U of A ..I have a place to do it, got 3 acres to put up some sheds or something. College kids on a college budget might need some used parts for their 'ped.

There isn't a place like that around here either. I'm trying to get some deals with the towing companies where I buy the scooter for scrap weight/ . THEN I could organize everything and have parts on hand

Sounds like you have a plan worked out. Hope it works out, would really be a cool thing to have going.

I just wish the carb air fuel mixture screw didn't have a cap on it. There is a way to drill that blank and remove it to gain access to the a/f adjustment screw. Have to search the forums.
