Throwing myself at the mercy of any kind soul willing to help walk a noob through some basic diagnostic steps for a Lifan LF150-7 I inherited. Its in great external condition but it sat idle for over 6+ mos without running. Battery holds a 12.5V charge, but it only cranks...won't start. I'm willing to spend some money on it but not a boatload, so I'd like to try working my way through it in the hopes it could be a simple. Here is the unit: www.lifan-ami.com/production.asp?tid=76&id=9(you need to use translate function in your browser as its in French)Dimension ((L × B × H mm) 2150 * 720 * 1410 Wheelbase (mm): 1225 Min. Earth shift: 100 Dry Weight:115kg Seat height: 950 Reserve Capacity: 11.5 Engine Type: Single-cylinder, forced air-cooled, four-stroke Engine model: 1P57QMJ/1P52QMI Bore × stroke: 57.4mm*57.8mm/52.4mm*57.8mm Exhaust volume: 149.6ml/124.4ml Max power: 7.2kw/7500r/min/6.0kw/7000r/min Max torque:. 9.0Nm/6000r/min/7.65Nm/6000r/min Clutch: dry auto-centrifugal Lubricant: Pressure / splash Start: kick / electric Ignition: CDI Transmission: automatic Max speed.: 85km / h/80km / h Consumption of gasoline (l /100km) ≤2.9L /100km/ ≤2.8L/100km Front Type Size and Air Pressure: 4.00-12/196KPa Rear Type Size and Air Pressure: 4.00-12/220KPa Steering angle: ≥ 15 ° Index exhaust: CO ≤ 3.8% ; HC ≤ 800ppm Performance start: ≤ 15s Braking system (front / rear): disk brake Performance: ≤7m/30km / h

Does it turn over with the kick starter? If not remove spark plug and try. You did not give enough information to really help. The starter can be made to spin by jumping the starter solenoid with a pliers but you don't say what you hear when turning key. Does it click? If it is turning over but not starting does it have a spark? Tell us more.

Battery checks OK, fuse to + terminal OK. It will turn over and crank but not enough to start. pull the coil wire put a spark plug in it and hold the threads to the engine , crank and see if you see spark should be blue .
to check for compression pull the spark plug put your finger over the hole tight crank and see if it pushes your finger off .

agreed as well...my brother said he had to shoot some spray ether in carb to get it going the last few times before it sat for so long...
CDI was replaced 2-3 years ago.
