Managed to get me a free Taotao 50 today off craigslist. Appears to be a 2011 model with 2800 miles. Story was it was running then was wrecked and never ran again( story of the guy who got it from his neighbor.
My first concern is oil dipstick is bone dry. Im gonna start working on it and let yall know what I find out

Wiring is a mess, ignition is all screwed up.tail light works but brake light doesnt, also i dont hear the safety brake start thing click. Scooter wont even try to turn over but horn and blinkers work.
Theres lots of random disconnected wires and wires that been cut and respliced. The. Fuse has been bypassed and hardwired together.
Cvt is stamped with a 6B, is this possibly a secret 63?
It has all that emissions crap on it, think its called a PAIR system.

Conversely, I ran a Craigslist saying I would take their old scooter or scooter parts away without giving them money. I figured there were many people that were tired of tripping on their kid's old scooter. I got quite a few calls but picked very few usable scooters. Then my wife said "when are you going to get rid of these scooters?" I thought "hey, Craigslist!" Some guy named Bob keeps bugging me, PITA.

To remove the PAIR system, and this is only for technical understanding and you should never, ever, EVER take this valuable POS off , remove the vac line from the canister and plug it. Then remove the hose and S tube. You're supposed to block off the S tube at the head with an aluminum plate. I have did that and also left the S tube in place with about 3 inches of plugged hose. You're not supposed to do the latter but I found they worked equally as well. The PAIR system is passive, the pulses from the exhaust pull the fresh air in. This all occurs past the exhaust valve, nothing in the combustion chamber. There's a check valve where the hose hooks on that keeps exhaust from blowing out of the head. So plug the hose to keep the air from going into the exhaust and you're done.

so with the 6B stamping on the rear of the cvt mean I have a secret 63? or does it just mean I have a pos emissions system on my ride?

Looks like I may have to clean up a large enough space in my garage and get a heater out there this weekend. The PO has all the wiring on this scoot cut and hacked together, wires missing, others not plugged in to the point I cant even get the starter to turn the motor over. I have a donor wiring harness off a year older PEACE 50 that I will put on my taotao.
How hard is it to transplant the wiring harness over? I already have my donor bike 70% disassembled, the only thing still on the bike is the front plastics. Is there anything I should change over/modify/ do different while I've already got it tore down this far?

ended up selling both my scooters. someone got a heck of a deal on the $100 they gave me for them
