I bought a 07 Fashion 250 for a couple of hundred bucks. The original owner said the shop told him it was a bad wiring harness. When pushing the start button the scooter only clicks. yes the kill switch is off and the side stand is up. I started by changing the solenoid with a new one from ebay still only clicks. The clicking is coming from the relay on the left of the front fork. I then tried putting on a new main harness and handle switch still only clicks. The scooter will start from the remote or by jumping the solenoid. Scooter runs good when started that way. I am stumped at this point and am considering putting in a push button for the starter. Any suggestions?

It sounds like the switch at the rear brake is bad. You are stepping on the rear brake pedal? It's a Honda copy and they integrated a brake light and interlock switch in one. That could be bad or not being tripped. If it starts by jumping the solenoid I would look there.

The remotes and alarms are tricky when switching from remote and key and push button. After shutting it off press the DISARM button it may take a couple of pushs and then try with the key and push button. Alleyoop

I did the same thing when I picked up my Fashion. Fortunately an understanding person filled me in too.

It's one of the perks of being a member of FOG (Fashion Owners Group). Free advice. Poor Rich and his SYM are going to have to rely on Cookees. Wait! Cookees is our President. Hmmmm.

There is a secondary relay on the Fashion. The primary makes a direct connection from the battery to the starter. The secondary is on the left front upper frame. That's what you heard CLICKING:
This relay is designed to temporarily take the headlight off line to facilitate cranking the engine. Here is a diagram, I have many more on this subject if you need clarification. You can see on the diagram you must step on the BRAKE PEDAL to energize the solenoid circuit:
The starter engages and the headlight goes off. Release the start button and the headlight comes back on. The start button is somewhat atypical in that it's a four pole component. One circuit engages the starter via Y/R to the solenoid. The other supplies the relay which cuts power to the headlight while the starter is cranking. This can be confusing but I figured it out. If you need further help let me know.

Damm , Rich....that was informative. Here all along I thought it was the Scooter Fairies that did all the work magically. Folks...THAT'S why I'm a member here. For real, who else is going to take the time to show you how stuff works. Thanks Rich!... and I still say you have WAY too much time on your hands...either that or a real bad case of insomnia.
