I would guess that it's just like the gates belts, manufactured in several different countries, out of different materials, and you can't tell by the price. And of course, imitators that just throw their names on really cheap belts. I think you have to go by supplier reviews and trial and error.. just my 2 cents worth, though..

A little bit of history. I spoke to Matt at PFS asking why they only had my belt in standard type. He said to me that they had contacted Gates about a supply of 828-22.5-30 belts for CF Moto style engines. The associate at Gates told him they don't make a belt in that size. So what is this? www.scooterbelt.com/82822530.htmlI bought one of these anywaybut when I compared it to the Genuine edition Gates I have for my 150cc scoot the differences are obvious. There's a white layer of Aramid fiber in the 743-20-30 that's missing in the 828. I'll use it and see how it holds up but the Gates representative claim that any of this size with their name on it is fake will probably hold true.

Nope. Rich bought one and said it worked. Also there are a lot of others selling the identical belt. For the money I thought I would take a chance. Besides, Bando kevlar belts list for twice as much.
