I haven't posted here in a while, which is a good thing because I haven't been having any trouble.
Now I'm trying to get to the variator and clutch on the Vog 260. I removed all the screws and covers on the crankcase cover, and I removed 10 8mm bolts from the cover but its not budging. The only things I see that could still be removed are some of the bolts holding on the fuel pump and one engine mount, but none of them are on the cover itself as far as i can see. Also, the YP250 manual notes 11 bolts, not 10, but I'll be damned to find that extra.
Any insights or thoughts? My research so far just has people saying "hit it with a hammer" which i even tried. thanks in advance.

This will help you LOOK at the CVT gasket it has 10 bolts only. Some times if never taken off they are really stuck on there because they put some stuff on them. You may need to get a screwdriver and pry it little by little going around the cover. Alleyoop

Thanks alley. 10 means they're all off. I didn't think about the gasket - Shouldn't I replace that while I'm in there too? I thought the rule was not to reuse a gasket but I'm thinking back to auto shop days.
Just back in - that is not coming apart with gentle blows, that's for sure. I'll need to look for the best spot to get some leverage.

If it rips to shreds I would not bother they do not do a Damn thing really, don't forget your getting air and dirt and what not in there from the air inlet. Most just take the gaskets off and do not replace them. I haven't had a gasket on mine since late 2009. Alleyoop

Thanks John. Sliders came this morning along with the belt. I'm a little bummed that Scrappy's site had a picture of a Mitsuboshi belt but I was sent a "goldsl" no name belt. for no name I could have saved $10 on the net. It also doesn't' have the dimensions on it.
I'll get going on this again in the morning.

I would complain, that is bait and switch BS and against the law.
I did that with just some rollers, they were not the grams that the package said they were. I ordered 12gram rollers and NONE of the rollers were 12 grams they were all 11.6, 11.7, 11.8 11.9 etc.. Alleyoop

Well it turns out there are 11 bolts, and the 11th was in the center under the glued on foam. There is a bolt next to it and I was too stupid to think that there was anything under the foam. So I have the cover off, but I cracked it around and in or so right in the center by the bolt. I'm thinking that I can fill in the crack with epoxy and still use it since there is still more than enough here to hold it.
AND - Problem solved. the transmission elements are fine - the teeth inside the rear wheel ground down and the spindle no longer caught on them.
So . . . . while I'm here I'll put in the sliders and I guess I should inspect the clutch since I shudder on takeoff. The belt looks pristine. Leave it or change it anyway?
