The body style of the Tao Tao Evo 150 is one of the most popular 150 styles out there. That means that just about every Chinese scooter maker has that bike in their line-up.( ie Puma Eagle, Wolf EX 150, etc etc.) So now it just becomes a matter of the "guts", or what quality lies under the plastics; and how well they want to warranty it. The adage, you get what you pay for, holds true even in Chinese scoots. The FOB cost of a Tao Tao Evo, based in Dallas, is $675. Since a lot of the drop shippers are based in Dallas, the question then becomes, who's willing to make the least amount of money on a drop ship deal. And who made the best LTL shipping deal.
From Killer's website "For ANY unit you choose to Assemble yourself, a PDI - Pre-Delivery Inspection and FULL maintenance MUST be done by a licensed mechanic, This is required for ALL units and dealerships in the USA. By Saving the cost of the Assembly charge you accept the responsibility to do this. This is a REQUIRED step in the Assembly Process. By not doing this step you will be VOIDING your warranty.(90 days parts only)"

Thanks for all your input and the warm welcome guys. I'm not feeling as worried about KMS now. I tend to be a little impulsive though, so I don't know what I'll end up doing until I actually pull the trigger.

Hey guys. I did a little more investigation based upon your input and I thought you'd like to know what I decided on. I did, in fact, decide to get the scoot from Killer. After a 3% cash discount and a $15 military discount, it's $869 to have the crate in my driveway. That's only $194 over what cookees says is FOB for the dealer. If their shipping cost is anything like what I've experienced shipping LTL in the past, they really aren't making any money here... Maybe $75-$100 at the most. Once you factor in their overhead, I'd imagine they'll be pretty close to breaking even. I can't ask for a better deal than that. Do any of you have any thoughts on this?

If you think its a good deal grab it . I have been trying to get connected as a drop shipper . Seems as if there is no money to be made . Every place I talk to is willing to sell retail at what is my cost . If I could even match that price I would be surprised . The sales of units seem very hard to make any money .

Wholesale is not buying one item. Like the little restaurant who has hundred and one items on the menu. Some one comes in and orders one t-bone steak. They replace it the next day with another one and they pay retail or close to it. The big joint orders 50 steaks and they pay half of what the little place pays.

I swear, I'm not jerkin' you guys around. That's the price I got from KMS. All I did was plug cookees $675 number into the mix and then made some reasonable assumptions about the rest of it. I don't know how they're making the margins work, but it's working for them somehow.

So he's making maybe a hundred or so, most likely with no warranty liability.... It's ALL done with mirrors
