If I run 5 gr sliders the scoot runs great from start to finish, which is around 30, then the rpms are way to high beyondd that. I can easily go 40 or more but at 9000 rpms. So the lighter weights dont limit top end, the rpms at those speeds just make it unreasonable. So I run 5.5 and can cruise to 35 at 8000 but dont have much more left. So, heavier weight does not mean higher top speeds.

Install a softer main clutch spring. It will let the variator push the belt out quicker and farther = up higher on pulley = higher gear = lower RPM = higher top end. There is always a trade off though, you won't be as quick off the line as the bike moves to higher ratios at a faster pace.

What would be softer than stock spring with 2000 miles on it?

Oh man, do you have a Bic pen you can take apart? That spring might work. It's back to the drawing board!

Yes, yes no! What there machine oil breath, echolalia? Two Wheeler acquired the Ultima 9 megaton clutch torque spring some time ago and now is wondering why he can't get his variator to move more than one angstrom off of the inner pulley. Well Two Wheeler it's because you chose poorly when you bought from "Blaze". I might trust "Blasé" but that was a high school field trip and I make no apologies. Don't look at me like that. We've all fallen into the cauldron of hormones at one time or another!! Moving on...what TW.... was it again? Oh yeah....you can't get above 30 on a 50cc? Really? I am stunned!!
OK she can help, she said there was a Bic pen that worked in scooters.

something is definitely not jiving, 5g and 9000 and 5.5g 8000, dog poo I say. What Variator is on that scoot?
Not all Variators are made the same some are made keep the belt lower in the pulley for great low end and mid range speeds but require a lot of rpms to get the belt up near the edge of the pulley. Then you have variators that give you less low end but climb high on the pulley for top end much quicker with less rpms.
So how is your scoot setup, what mods? Alleyoop

To clarify. I cruise at 8000 max and im at 30mph with 5 gr sliders. I can hit 40 plus but the rpms are screaming. If I go to 5.5 grams I can cruise at 35 which is a more comfortable cruising speed for me and the rpms will be at 8000 but get 5 more mph this way.
All Im saying is that for me top speed is only limited to rpms that are way to high, not that I cant hit higher speeds.
