Hi, I have a 2012 Jonway 50cc scooter with the GY6 engine (4 Stroke) and when I bought it, it started and ran fine, then I went to go out on it, and it just died. I have replaced the carb, HT lead, and fuel, and I have checked the air filter. After doing this, the scooter started fine, but when you give it throttle, it just cut out. Now it has gone back to not starting. Any suggestions are greatly appreciated. Dan.

The first thing you want to do is adjust the valves being a 50cc adjust BOTH VALVES to .003 inchs. Then since you bought a new carb turn the fuel ratio screw clockwise until it stops and turn it counter clockwise 2 turns and give that a shot. If it starts and stays idleing let it warm up for at least five minutes. Then you can fine tune the Fuel Ratio mixture to GET THE HIGHEST IDLE out of the adjustment. Ally I set mine at .003 this time rather than 002 like I usually do. Is much louder. Hope it's mechanically ok to do it that way. I run full synthetic and notice that just using that oil makes the mechanicals louder. I guess its thinner

Yes synthetic is very fine and you will hear more noises and also possible leaks. For the Valves a TICKY TICKY is good it tells you they are not tight and not to loose. A CLATTER CLATTER means they are to loose. It also depends on how good you are at adjusting the valves, how you hold the gauge in there whether your hand is at a little angle or a straight shot horizontal to the valve stem and adjuster. I find most always set them wrong because they are doing it at an angle , which results in a wider gap than what they want. Alleyoop

I have adjusted the valves to .003 ins and turned the fuel air screw as advised above, but the bike is still not going. It just turns over, but does not start. Does anyone have any more suggestions?

Pull your spark plug out and put the plug wire back on and ground it to the head an see if its firing okay, I had the same problem with my 250CC jonway kalee

Let me ask a few questions:
1. Does it ATTEMPT to start and die? 2. Does it NOT ATTEMPT to start JUST CRANKS AND CRANKS? 3. Is the KILLSWITCH on the RUN POSITION 4. IS THE SIDE STAND UP(Some have a kill switch on the SIDE STAND AS WELL and it has to be up).
If #2 above - check 3 and 4. If that is all good then do as KALEE suggest and check if the PLUG is firing at all.
If #1 then it is most likely a fuel delivery problem or you have some bad Vacuum lines that are cracked or a cracked intake manifold etc.. Also make sure the AIR FILTER IS ON THE CARB and attached. If you can take some pictures of the carb area and hoses or a VIDEO trying to start it might help diagnose the problem. Alleyoop

The spark is good.
It just cranks and cranks, but it did run yesterday, it just cut out when I turned the throttle.
I cannot find a kill switch, I don't think it has one, I believe you use the remote to kill it, but I may be wrong.
The side stand cut out was removed by the previous owner.
The vacuum for the fuel is good, I have removed the pipe and turned it over, and a good amount of fuel comes out.
I will post some pictures and a video tomorrow, as it is too dark now.

Ah ok, so it does start but hard to start and if it starts and you twist the throttle it dies. Which sort of points to lack of fuel being sucked in by the motor.
Ok try this GIve the Fuel Ratio screw ONE MORE FULL turn Counter Clockwise OUT 3 turns out instead of 2 see if that helps it. Alleyoop
