I tighten it down and then tighten the top nut as well. Why is this happening? Isnt the top nut supposed to keep it tight?

is the stem pulling out of the fork itself?,,,i saw that a few times

oh i get that part ,, what i was saying is the center stem pulling out of the bottom triple,,,lots of times they are only pressed in

I looked at but I dont really know what to look for. I assume that the handlebars themselves would be higher if that were the case? They dont seem to be

You might not notice the rise since the amount of slack would be in thousandths for the bearings to be loose if the steerer shaft was coming unpressed from the triple clamp bracket. When you lock the nuts you are holding both of them, correct?

You have to hold the bottom steady while spinning the top down to lock the two together.

OH great,,,whew i was praying that the stem wasn't being pulled out of the bottom clamp,,,i've seen it on dirtbikes and a couple guys that pound on their bikes with wheelies and crazy riding,,,,,

I still dont know if it was. For all i know it may have slightly. I have no way of telling. If it happens again then i guess it is because that locktite should keep them from loosening.
