A sizzling, hot day made me take out the little bike. Not a bad day.

It's looking like the stars will align perfectly for me here in IL. I should be able to get the bike registered tomorrow or Monday. The forecast for Monday is in the 60's, with two or three other days next week in the high to mid 50's. I'm chomping at the bit!

huh?? negative 5 degrees?? thats too much, you should abandon that place , its not conducive to human life, move to California or arizona, when Kz went here few months ago to scout for houses , he said he liked arizona. his arthritis got cured with arizona heat.

It actually got nice today in Arkieland. 62F and this week they are calling for some 70's as soon as the ground dries up some it's time to put out cabbage, broccoli, cauliflower, etc, called garden time!
But it's going to take me a little spell to get to all of that, right now I have a very sore mouth. Had surgery on my lower jaw and had 3 titanium studs put in to try to secure my very bad false bottom teeth. Just breathing hurts!

There are two differences that I know of. The gas tank on mine is up front near where the the frame attaches to the steering head, the Bi Metro's is under the seat. The Bi Metro has a pressed steel frame, mine is one long steel tube from front to back over the engine. It's an "Underbone" configuration. Oh, and I have front forks, the Bi Metro has a link type front end. If I was an ambitious hot rodder the Bi Metro engine might bolt up,.....I'm not. It only has 3,000 miles on it but so far it's displayed the kind of reliability that makes a Japanese scooter green with envy. Two bolts, a bulb and a battery in five years. 135 mpg and a top speed of 55 on level ground. I saw 60 last week on a slight downhill and it still had some left. ON A 50cc! Plus it reminds me on a slogan from the 60s. "You meet the nicest people on a Bashan."

That really is awsome KZ,,good to know,,my life is a strange one and as you know the whole story with the ssr/vespa deal,,stuff just falls into my lap,,,love that mileage and with a pretty decent top speed too!! all that from a 50???!!!!!!! I'd take one of those in a second without hesitation,,,,

Funny Story. A 70 year old woman in New Hampshire corresponds with me. She read about my 50 and wrote to ask me for advice and tips. Last Fall she sold the Bashan and bought a Bi Metro, which she immediately loved. Over the winter she began to get seller's remorse about parting with it and ordered another 50cc in Gray from an online seller. She now has a Tao Tao 50cc scooter, the Bi Metro and the coming Bashan in her fleet. Who says there's too much of a good thing.

It was a sizzling 40* this morning when I had to leave for work. There's only one thing to do when a summer-like temperature appears. I pulled Rocket out of the garage. The little engine did just fine on the 35 mile round trip and I saved a ton of gas. I don't understand someone in Arizona failing to ride to work everyday. It made my whole day much better.

Guess I'm not riding for a while. We are finally getting hit tomorrow here in western NY. Expecting blizzard conditions, 20 in of snow with 40 mph winds. Actually closing the schools, which is rare here. Then on Friday back to 40+. Still hope, though. Just a little while longer
