Hi All, Trying to fix this 50cc gy6 scooter and not having any luck. Has no spark at all, i have replaced the coil, cdi and stator/pickup, followed all the online troubleshooting searches (take blk/w wire out of cdi to check kill switch etc) to no avail. Everything checks out ok apart from there is no voltage going to the coil until i release the starter button where it does a quick volt spike then the engine stops spinning. Only thing i can think of would be the reg/rec but thought i would check on here before spending more money....... Thanks in advance for any help

what is the voltage on the red/black wire off the stator going to the cdi ? What is the pulse voltage ? Have you checked the grounds ? all power is in ac volts .

Have you checked the kill switch circuit. I think Rich has a schematic, diagram....here somewhere. Also are you pulling the brake? Ground wires? Also as a nutball experiment just jump the solenoid instead of using the starter button.
New spark plug or old?

Yep, brakes on. 84ish volts on red/black wire, using digi voltmeter so not so good with pulse voltage. 3 ground wires behind battery and the one on the head are ok. took the black/white wire off the cdi to check kill switch and no difference, also stripped and cleaned kill switch and bypassed the side stand switch to check that. Fixing it for a friend who kindly knackered the starter clutch so getting a bit hit and miss if the starter engages, dont know how much more testing it will take lol this is day 3!

It is probably the killswitch in conjunction with another circuit. We went through this some time ago and I can't quite remember the specifics. Lets get the man and get straightened out. I know, I know, life is weird isn't it? When one of you figures it out...kiss my arse. I'll go look for Jack, he's probably under a chicken coop.

Ok folks I've had my soup and pain pill so if I mess up I've got a good reason besides being stupid! 8-|Had surgery this past Thursday in my mouth, wife put a chain saw in my mouth while the oral surgeon had me out and said not that'll shut him up! Looks like you've hit this scooter with everything but the kitchen sink! So it does have a side stand safety switch? Can you tell me what make and model this scooter is?

Jack, the side stand switch has been knackered!! I thought you should know since you've had ....um...oral....surgery. Yep, oral.....surgery! Snik, Scooter Doc....voted most mature for 2014.

John, I am so sorry, I forgot you were a member of the Rabidinacal Flocker Sect! Man, did I walk around that mine field of political correctness or what? C'mon people, pin something on me, I dare you! It is not spelled that way. Whoo hoo! Scooter Doc....for the very best in tech advice! If you wait a while. It's free. Don't complain.

If you have a Sidestand Killswitch here is how to Disable it: Alleyoop To disable follow the wire from sidestand up the frame to the first plug in line. It may be near the battery and frame, Unplug it and fuse the two wires together on the hot side. Hot side= battery side of (plug) wiring. A picture of the finished bypass. • Cnnectors that fit the terminals are soldered onto both ends for the wire to give a secure fit. • Tape up the ends of the wires removed. Alleyoop
