Ok, So how do I get more top end, cheaply. There is alot of stuff on performance on the GY6 engine. Seems like the more you-all do the more problems you are haveing. I am running stoc 150-9 Icebear Trike. I an old dog trying to run 15+ miles on the highway every day. I only have 300+ miles on the trike. For now the cars just pass me. Oh well I can't drive 55. Trike98304, The cheapest is get a Prodigy or NCY Variator set. If you check your Variator the FAN is 115mm in Diameter BUT the Variator with the weights is only 107MM in Diameter. So a belt will only go as high as the 107mm Variator. Now with a Prodigy or NCY Variator the Variator and Fan are the same size both are 115MM in diameter which is about 3/8 larger than the OEM 107mm. Then you can play with the Weights, I would first get Roller Weights they are cheaper than Sliders. I would get 11 and 13 gram rollers weights.
With the 11 and 13 Gram roller weights you can also try 12Gram combo by putting in 3-11s and 3-13s which will be an average of having 12Gram weights. Once you decide which gives you the best performance then you can get Sliders. SLiders will itch out a couple of more mph for you due to their sliding ability and they push the Variator out just a little more than roller weights.
Now once you decide which ROLLER weights you like on your scoot then you get 1GRAM heavier weights to replace the rollers you like. The reason is this, the Roller weights will effect your RPMS by 500-600 RPMS up or down for every Gram. Sliders on the Other hand will effect the RPMS by 200-350 up or down for every Gram.
My trike Will get up to speed 40-45 pretty quick then the Bigger tires start to kick in and gets me up to 50 pretty quick then I let off the Throttle and I am doing 50mph at 6000 rpms. I am running with the Prodigy Variator and 12Gram Sliders with a Powerlink Belt. Hope this helps Alleyoop

Thanks for the quick reply Alleyoop, Soon as possible I will be trying some of this. In the mean time I'll just put a few more miles on the trike. As of today it is running good and no problems yet, other than the chain guard breaking and falling down. Keep th rubber side down and the shiny side up. Triker98304

Ok, I have been running my trike now with the 29 Tooth Front Sprocket and I like it. My Rpms are down around 500 less than with the 24 Tooth Front Sprocket that the Trike came with. It is sweet you can actually feel it start to Speed up once you get around 40 miles per hour it really starts to move out. It is really nice to get up to 50 mph then back off the throttle and it stays there and the RPMS drop to right around 5500. I also noticee going uphill it holes the speed pretty good I loose only about 2mph holding the rpms at the same level before I hit the hill. I cranked on it and it just reached 60mph and had to back off due to light coming up. So I am very happy with the speed and the low rpms.
Now mind you I still cannot find my 600 rpm I lost somewhere. But right now it will only run up to around 6800 rpms and should be running 7200-7300 with the 12G Sliders. My Trike starts to pull real good and steady at 6000 rpms and usually thats what I run around most of the time.
So If your Trike Came with a 24 Tooth Front Sprocket I would Recommend you Order the 29 Tooth Front Sprocket. Do not worry about the low end the Engine has Plenty of Torque and you will like the lower rpms and higher top end speed. Alleyoop
I took a quick movie of my Trike with my new Trunk that has lights as well as the new Suppertrapp Muffler with a 1 1/4 Header pipe that I had built.
It has a nice deep throaty sound, I have 8 discs on the muffler. It came with eight discs and the instructions say if your running pretty much stock on your intake, carb and air fliter to use 4-8 discs.
If you use more than 8 then they recommend to re-jet the carb. The more discs you add the more Free FLow the Muffler becomes as well as a little louder. The Less Discs the more restricted the Muffler becomes as well as a little quieter.
I also replaced my 24 Tooth Front Sprocket with a 29 Tooth and put on a #428 DID-O Ring Chain.
As you can see I am not a good movie taker:) Alleyoop
AlleyOop, you are a good man!! I am referring to the post on another forum concerning the wheel chair holder you built for our friend in LA. Beautiful job and a good example of helping your fellow man. Good on you!!!
