Hello all,
Been ages since I've been here. I recently picked up a neglected 150cc scooter. I believe it is a JMStar. The tag says Shanghai Hongling. The wire harness was mouse eaten so I ordered the front and rear harness from PartsForScooters.com The rear connecters all lined up and correct. The front of the long harness is wired for a 5-pin (six hole) regulator. I got a 5-pin regulator and connected it. The scooter won't start and doesn't appear to have a spark. I haven't completely wired up the dash; i.e. tach, fuel gauge, headlight switch and gauge lights. The motor turns over but won't fire. Where shall I begin?
Thanks, Michael
Addendum: I do have spark. The old plug was cruddy. New plug. Got spark, but it won't start. It is pumping fuel, but I may have a clogged line to the carb. I'll fix that and also adjust the valves.

Sorry man, I misssed your post. Yeah, do the valves like .005" ex and .004" in and then see what happens. These little guys are real sensitive to gap. They should both tick a little when you start up and then quiet out to a little buzz. I am not comfortable with no valve sound. If they make a little buzz they are hitting bottom and sealing. If there'a no noise they are either perfect (fat chance) or hanging open. A little noise will not hurt them....ever. Rich

Your on the right track, valves and clean out the carbs PILOT JET AND PASSAGE don't forget the passage that leads to the tiny holes by the butterfly. They are real tiny and easy to clog up. Alleyoop
