Spark plug is new.
Trimmed and reattached the plug wire, but now the battery is dead. It won't hold a charge. I keep it on a charger but it just won't hold.
Can't do anything with a bad battery.

Excellent video.
I tested the coil resistance like the video said. Where he had 2.8 ohm resistance, mine showed .2 ohm resistance.
I tested the starting AC voltage coming out of the stator and got a reading of 45V AC where he had 75V AC. Is my result out of line?

I am working on my nephew's friend's TaoTao ATM50. The scooter was running fine, but today it just quit and would not restart. The intake and exhaust valve adjusters were extremely tight. I adjusted both to .004. The engine would still not run. I tested for spark by grounding the body of the plug to the cam cover and saw no sparking while starting. Which part could have failed?

FIXED!
Went back to square one. Took apart the carburetor and found a clogged jet (again). I reinstalled the carb and adjusted the mixture and idle until the engine did not die at half to full throttle.
Thanks Scooter Doc!

- No pin holes in the diaphragm
- There is one vacuum line from the intake manifold to the fuel pump. It appears fine.
- The fat breather hose on the lower side of the cam cover goes to a filter/valve dohicky. It is OK, after the box it vents to atmosphere
- The upper breather hose goes to the canister and connects to the intake tube. That hose appears fine
- Factory airbox with a new filter, but the owner did not supply the airbox cover

OK, I'll check the diaphragm and look for vacuum leaks tomorrow. Yup, definitely can see light thru the jets.
Thanks for the help so far.

I took the carb completely apart and cleaned it thoroughly. The jets are clear. The air filter is new.
If I apply the throttle slowly, it bogs less. If I apply it quickly if bogs severely.

I am working on my friend's scooter. I gave it a tuneup and it was having some electrical issues. The electrics are now sorted, but now the carb is pissing me off. The carb did have the EPA plug which I removed and can now adjust. No matter where I but the fuel mixture screw, the engine bogs at half throttle. It idles fine, but can't be ridden. I am about to give up. Please help.

I am finding parts numbers but not dimensions. When I can find one for sale is it $50 or more.

I am working on a 1988 Yamaha Riva CV50. Finding parts is next to impossible. Yamaha says the CV50 was made in 1988 yet the DOT sticker clearly states it is a 1988 model. It is a 50cc 2-stroke. The belt Monster sold me is the wrong size. I no longer have the original to measure so now I must figure what size it takes. Any of you have an idea? It is kind of a long case motor.

I am working on a Honda Elite SA50. It is a 2-Stroke. I can't get the idle or mixture correct. Steps I have taken: - Cleaned and dried air filter
- adjusted mixture screw
- adjusted idle screw
No matter where I set the screws I can't get a high enough stable idle. So, I decided to pull the carb to give it a good cleaning. I disconnected the hoses but when I got to the fuel supply hose gas poured out and kept coming. Is that supposed to happen with a vacuum petcock? Do you suppose it has failed? Could that be my problem?

I think i mighta fried the new regulator. That area smelled funny and the harness is warm. I did not find any short to ground. At idle it still puts out 6v and at 5,000 rpm 8v. I am ready to throw in the towel.
