Well OEM was four, I switched to five when installed the new harness. Am going to order a new five pin R/R right now.

By testing ohms you essentially did continuity tests on the yellow to white and ground. The yellow center taps to the white so you should have continuity which you do at zero impedance. Both white and yellow ground to case and stator frame so zero, or close, which you have...that's normal. Check your white wire set at AC with one probe in the end of the wire and the other probe to ground, should be around 25v AC with bike started...it varies but close to 25. Probe polarity does not matter, it is AC, it is not directional flow. Reattach to R/R and then pull the yellow off the R/R and do the same test....should be 15ish. If those stator values are OK the 8v DC at the battery is a giant red flag, it is then your R/R. Checking at the battery IS directional since it is DC but if you put the probes to the battery backwards it simply reads negative DC voltage and the value is still valid. Rich Hey! It was the R/R. I wired in a spare 4-pin for the 5-pin, and now the charging system is charging fine. 12.45V.

I paid $100 for the project I am working on. I put about $300 in parts plus more in paint and bodywork. It still isn't 100% correct. I am hoping to get my money back plus a bit more. Good luck in your search.

Yup, checking continuity per manual and as referenced by another thread of a similar problem. Will check voltage again tomorrow. I checked the voltage at the battery earlier. I was getting around 8 volts at 5,000 rpm. I know the charging system isn't charging or my battery wouldn't keep dying and I'd have ~12 volts at the battery. My question is what part in the charging system has failed.

My charging system isn't working. The scooter runs fine, lights work - I am getting 13v DC at the connector. It is an 8 coil stator with a five wire r/r. I don't know what stator to buy if that is the problem. AC or DC? It has a total new wiring harness from Partsforscooters. I bought a new r/r because the original didn't match the harness. It was a four wire. Here are some test results. Are they off? What to test next? WHITE TO YELLOW: 0.00WHITE TO GREEN: 00.8YELLOW TO GREEN: 00.6GREEN TO FRAME: 00.0

Well, I got the tachometer wired and working. For the life of me I can't get the gas gauge to work. The sensor could be faulty or my wiring could be wrong.

It is a late 2008. I've the switches figured out and I am pretty sure I can figure out the dash lights. It is the pinouts on the tach and fuel gauge I need to know.

I got my old JMStar started and running. I've got the engine wired, but the dash wiring plugs were not at all a match for the harness. Colors are all different and the plugs are different. Where can I find a diagram for the dash circuit board? I need to find out how to wire the tach and the fuel gauge plus the indicator lights.

I've never gotten a 150 to kick start. I've kick started a TaoTao ATM 50 a couple of times. I've had a two stroke Vino and an Elite 50. Those kicked started the first time every time. Something about Japanese quality.

Hello all,
Been ages since I've been here. I recently picked up a neglected 150cc scooter. I believe it is a JMStar. The tag says Shanghai Hongling. The wire harness was mouse eaten so I ordered the front and rear harness from PartsForScooters.com The rear connecters all lined up and correct. The front of the long harness is wired for a 5-pin (six hole) regulator. I got a 5-pin regulator and connected it. The scooter won't start and doesn't appear to have a spark. I haven't completely wired up the dash; i.e. tach, fuel gauge, headlight switch and gauge lights. The motor turns over but won't fire. Where shall I begin?
Thanks, Michael
Addendum: I do have spark. The old plug was cruddy. New plug. Got spark, but it won't start. It is pumping fuel, but I may have a clogged line to the carb. I'll fix that and also adjust the valves.

I finally removed my variator. The rollers are shot and one is actually cracked. I ordered a set of Dr Pulley sliders and a new variator. The ramps on my original are showing some wear. Hopefully, this will be a big improvement.

My body is a Roketa Bali 250- copied from the Honda Foresight 250.. I often wondered where that goofy, upright, scooter design came from.
