I would love to ride that thing, but the article says it is not coming to America.

I can only hope it's the forerunner of a new generation of scooters. Imagine a CBR 250 engine with DCT in a smaller package. No more belts, responsive handling and Helix-like longevity. If Kawasaki ever jumps on the bandwagon-I'm there.

You can say what you want about belts but I kind of like them. There are several places on the road to my house that a straight transmission just does not feel comfortable....no matter what gear a motorcycle is in it just doesn't feel right yet a belt drive that is constantly changing does.

There is a reason not many cars have CVTs - always hunting for the right gear.

Also in a car the size of a belt would be huge too, 2-3000 lbs verses 2-500 lbs. a belt for a 450 lb scooter is almost 200 bucks at the stealer shop.
Using a scooter for what it was designed for, belts fit the bill perfectly. A scooter was never meant to drive like a car, just to scoot around, doing what a car is too big for. In the 50s a lot of scooter makers used ads showing a gal with a long tight skirt riding, some thing these new breeds of "scooters" could never do with out showing if she was wearing underwear! Yeah I was riding a scooter then too. I am old.

The problem with a CVT is that every motor it's attached to sounds like a motorboat. That's the beauty of Dual Clutch. It actually shifts. As much as I like my scooter it sounds like an industrial engine. The drone alone is a major drawback and keeps scooter sales down. I keep hearing about how scooters sell so big in Asia yet every video I see shows predominantly people on Cubs and clones. Vespas might sell in Europe but Cubs rule everywhere else.
This Honda is way more Cub than Vespa.

So True, Vespa did fine and never showed a "tight skirt" lady. [If only there where room for two] ,,-- Hold on.. I have an idea. As far as the 2013 Honda offerin, i'd pass as well as the price is way high and im still a bit more fond of the T-max when it comes to the sport look and feel. columbiamo.craigslist.org/mcy/3463396363.htmlNot a bad price for that T-max, but with that said doint you drive up my drive way in a burg... you might be walkin home.. -------------------------------------------------------------------------- As far as the Audi A4, all i can say is "It need's a bigger fuel tank. Multitronic® Tiptronic® Manual City 24 mpg 20 mpg 22 mpg Highway 31 mpg 30 mpg 32 mpg Combined 26 mpg 24 mpg 26 mpg
