well I went to wally world a few weeks ago and on the way home the engine stopped and locked up. checked the oil and it was empty. so, it looks like I have a major repair coming up, will be asking a lot of questions here, thinking of just buying a new engine and repairing this one later.

That's a bummer sorry to hear that hopefully that will be a good lesson learned they are machines and do need attention. Sorry that happened oil is cheap compared to engine replacement. I would think putting a new engine in is easier than a rebuild. But some of these other guys on this sight can help you with all your questions when the time comes.
Good luck.

Dr rocco what amazon sells new motors. I didn't get it? I had this problem that this guy had when I first got my scooter I put oil in it that day and check it before ever ride now. It doesn't eat oil or burn it. I have a sight glass on mine.
I use synthetic oil seams to work good.
Dr rocco you get out and ride today? I heard in a post earlier today you might. Your scooter isn't even brocken in yet what type of scooter is it looks nice in the picture. And it looks like the type that would have the gy6 engine am I right?

Yeah. I'm just saying that if you locked up your engine, a new engine isn't ridiculously expensive. You could buy a new one and keep the old one for spare parts should you need them.
I haven't gotten out yet today. I'm hopeful I can get done with all the projects I planned today so I can get out this evening for a bit. I've got the TaoTao ATM-150A, Evo. It does have the 150cc gy6 in it. I haven't put too many miles on it yet, but so far I am beyond impressed with it.

Happy to hear dr rocco be care full out there at night. People aren't looking for scooters on the road sometimes from my experience at least. Hope you have a great ride and many miles to put on the scooter for enjoyment and some fresh air.
Happy to hear you like it cheap on gas and insurance a. Yeah your scooter isn't brocken in yet make sure you check your oil and I would imaging you will need to change it soon. Might not be a bad idea to put a plug in it with the first oil change. 2000 or so miles change the diff fluid that's what my scooter called for. I also put a plug in it runs good just took it to the store today.
Tomarrow going riding with a friend But anyways hope you have a great ride tonight if you get out. Please pay attention in intersections you can get them people who don't want to wait for the red light and pull out.
