When I first got my scooter, I took the front off and was messing with the front brake switch, and I ended up breaking it, and then losing it. The switch was a cable that was plugged into a plastic housing, and then the cable went to the brake handle. When you pulled the brake handle a small spring would push a small piece of metal out and somehow that would turn the brake light on, and when the handle was releases it would push the little plunger back in and apparently break the circuit. Anybody ever see what I'm talking about or was I dealing with some sort of weird custom part? I simply can't find a switch that will work for my front brake..

It's just like that, but mine was stripped down and VERY skinny. The wires were put into a plastic connector (may have been done by the precious owner). The little plunger was literally all there was, not even the plastic/rubber housing. Is that housing removable?

Yeah man.....that's how it works. You pull the handle, it hits a button, or releases a button, and the circuit is closed to the brake light and ergo the starter button circuit. Then you hit the start button and it grounds the circuit. The solenoid closes and the juice from the battery rushes to the starter. I seem to remember the brake light handle pushes on a little button but it's an academic point, it energizes the solenoid actuator. .
I have ridden 800 pound cruisers and they are exactly the same. Pull in that brake handle or nothing happens. Rich

Like I said alley, I ended up losing the cable. I can only describe it as that switch but without the rubber housing and with a plastic connector that goes to the bike.

If worse comes to worse, there are thousands of styles and sizes of switches available. It would be super easy to rig something up.

Alley, I have a foot brake for my rear brake. It's unfortunately not the same switch. I may have to rig something up like the Dr. said.

Are you guys ignoring me!! Seriously?! OK..fair enough...my wife does too...until I take off my clothes and run down our street. THEN she gets in the SUV and chases me down. Hey...are you guys on the deck of the enterprise? You look awfully smug...like Kirk. The older guy is Kirk right? When he was in that lousy "undiscovered crap thing"? The younger guy? Hmmmmm....home gardening network? Alley...they're calling! Well, I'm here to offer some answers and not just schematics....you know...those things that trace out circuits...and then you know how the thing....works?
Here you go....this is the brake handle before it's pulled in. #1 is the little button that comes out when you pull in the brake. You can't see it yet...but it's coming....like Star Trek 5. #2 is the spade connectors to the brake circuit. If you pull in the handle...well...that's coming. Are you all atwitter!? No...you're not home gardening....maybe Sulu? #3 is just a bolt. #4 is Amulet of Kirk and Sulu. HI! How did you get on my brake reservoir? I love French words!
When you pull in the handle the little "button" comes out and makes a "connection" to "a" thingie that sends a "message" to Kirk. He then tells Sulu, who just will NOT listen to tech "talk" to send warp stuff to the brake "light". You push the kickstarter and...well...warp speed. Hey, you guys are looking at the little button! Did you really listen to me?......nah.
Just goofing guys.....no harm intended. Rich

Yes yes. Back to the topic at hand. I may as well order that switch when I get my paycheck and I'll let you know if I can fabricate something..until then, let this topic fall down the board
