I have the scot running well and the plug looks good. I run an 85 main and have allways thought that's big for sea level in a stock motor. But my mileage is low. Maybe 50 mpg. Something is not right here.

Don't forget it all depends what the temps are where you live, if it is on the cold side the motors require more fuel and therefore use more fuel. If the temps are hot then the motors require less fuel and your mileage goes up. But I do have to agree for a stock 50cc a 85 main jet I really think you could go down to an 80 at least. Alleyoop

its been between 70-85 here that last few fillups. If i take off the little cap on the air inlet it too lean and will bog so its not appearing to be too rich. Id think it bight be if it ran OK with it off but it wont. And when I posted pics of my plug here with 80 main the consensus was its was lean. I actually went as high as a 90 main awhile back and the porcelain blackened.

I have a 150cc I doubt I'm getting much more than 50 mpg , the Vespa fuel injected 250 is doing about 65 mpg .

So 50mpg on a 50cc would be a problem

The only reason I find to check mileage is see if there is a problem with a motor. I doubt if a small scooter especially can get optimum mileage unless the jet is perfect, too little or big and the miles are going to go down.

True enough John...that's why EFI is coming. Donut boy? I don't need a 200 HP Ducati Monster to get my arse back and forth to work! Your hair weighs 50!

If it's running OK leave it alone. If there's a problem it will show up. "Good news will keep, bad news crashes through the door."
