Anyone ever experience a noisy stator. It just started a week ago and seems to be getting louder. I removed the fan housing and fan for an inspection and didn't find anything. There seemed to be a little bit of oil from my leak, but nothing too significant. Would oil cause it to make noise? The noise sound "electric" and seems to dissipate as soon as I am no longer idling.

I wouldn't think oil would do it. There are stators immersed in oil to cool them. Oil is not a good conductor of electricity. Are you sure the woodruff is cool? That was the first thing that popped into my mind. Could the pickup be scraping or could a wire be up against the flywheel inside?

Yea that is what I think maybe it is the fan cover that it sometimes is hitting up against the fan. With more vibration at idle it could be loose and hitting the fan. Alleyoop

I pulled the fan cover and fan off to inspect and listen more closely. It definitely appears to be originating from inside the crank case. I am going to post a video of it with sound as soon as it uploads to my vimeo for you pros to chime in. It sounds to me like I blew another rod bearing or a crank bearing. Second one since November (original).

Yep that sounds like your Starter Clutch bud, notice it made the sound when you went to start it and it quiets down when revved. The Clutch is still engaged and not releasing only when enough rpms are applied will it release and allow it to free spin. Alleyoop

Alleyoop Well that sounds a lot better to me than a crank or rod bearing going out. Is there something I can do to fix it short of replacing it. Did I tighten something down too much?

Will I destroy my scoot if I continue to ride it with the clutch in this condition until I get a new one?

Are you changing the clutch in the crv? Because the sound sounds like it is coming from the other side. Of your bike keep us posted at least if its a clutch it will cost around 60 dollars I believe for a new one that's after market. My friend here were I live has a 2006 matrix 150 the same thing basically except name of scooter. We are going to need to tune up his scooter soon. He just had to put a starter in it and I ordered a oil plug his is cracked. His scooter has 3500 original miles. I wondering why yours is giving you so many problems I feel bad. They are ment to be enjoyed.
If you don't have air tools alley told me you can hold the bell with an oil wrench and use a ratchet to take of the clutches. You might be able to get away without buying a new belt to not really sure I would ask alley.
