I believe its the ate 501 taotao scooter....cant upload pics sorry....this is my project and am tired of this electrical prob already...can i just take all the batteries out n just put 1 bigger one?

I got a used electric scooter that has 4 batterries all connected together.The charging port didnt work. So a friend cut the charging port that had a red wire n green wire. We tried chargig w a charger....the charger says it is fully charged. Exept when we run it it dies about 30 sec later....the batteries r not charging rite? Do i trycharge them individually? And id so im confused myself.the batteries r hooked up positive to neg neg to positive....was told it cycles as one? To me it looks wrong.

First time on here. I have a used new taotao 4 batteries. Not chargin w charger plug so we cut the 2wires red positive green neg so im told n tried chargin like that. Stil no luck.... engine turns over runs for 30 sec n dies.....help plez!!!
