Didn't bother to wait on testing. I took out the bendix and noticed I good bit of belt residue on it, didnt see any scuff marks where it may have impacted but the case has doesn't allow much room for that Got everything bolted back up and ran it around the block. On my downhill portion I laid into it and hit 50. When I got back sure enough there were rings around the drive face teeth. So I guess that solves that, Don't WOT downhill and no problems will be had. Sidenote/unrelated: Dio centerstand rest is on the muffler. Had a helluva time trying to pin a rattling noise that seemed to happen sporadically, I found out the extra "mount" on the goshi was actually the hole for the rubber stopper. Thanks for the help guys!

Got back online a bit late today My SYM is mildly modified: derestricted Dio Goshi exhaust (great low end torque) NCY variator (The orange ptfe coated version) NCY lightened clutch bell I was also running the Ncy clutch but went back to stock cyborg: Thankfully it was only an optical illusion from the belt markings. I was worried about that as well when I pulled the drive face. After cleaning it up and taking a few measurements It turned out to be properly machined. The belt doesn't show any signs of abnormal wear or markings on either side or outer face. I did a few tuning runs today. First I replaced the contra with a stock spring and ran it. No markings above the flat ring on the drive face. Second I replaced the contra with a 1000rpm and jumped up to 10.5g weights, bike ran alright, acceleration declined but still managed to reach top speed. Again no marks on the drive face. I decided to go back to the stock setup as I didnt benefit from the 1000rpm contra and its a pain in the A** to open the driven pulley to seat the belt for reassembly. Alleyoop: I'm going to test the Bendix this weekend. Just to clarify wouldn't I want to add weight to lower the rpm? I'm starting to think this is more of an isolated incident. The dark ring the in the original post was made while I was up in the mountains and was hammering it a bit downhill. After I posted the thread and went for another tuning run I noticed the same ring only not as dark. Today I took it easy on the downhill parts of my "test course". I'm starting to think my issue may be the lack of resistance going downhill at WOT

DD50 Drive FaceWhat did I do? Did a little moped science. I was worried that the belt jumped a bit when I was coasting down hill and gave it a bit of throttle which caused the clutch to engage and the bike to stutter a bit. The belt is riding up into the teeth. I'm pretty sure that is something I don't want happening. Trying to keep the bike running as it is I'm mulling over my options: Higher gearing Stronger contra spring Possibly replace the stock contra (bought this used with 4500 on the speedo not sure if it's ever been replaced) Anyone have any thoughts or opinions?

139qmb:
For the past few days I've been noticing a grinding at top speed coming from the Variator side. Today I pulled the clutch off for the first time and noticed the back pulley half on the clutch assembly was spinning freely.
Now I'm pretty sure the back pulley half is supposed to be welded to the pulley collar, but wanted someone with more experience to weigh in.

Lol, if only it was that simple. Thankfully I can still ride it. I just don't like the idea of jerry-rigging a brand new bike. Whelp writing this post has me feeling motivated enough to fix/break this thing until it works, time to hit up the NEX for some more tools.

Back to fixing this bugger on my own, dealers booked up through until next Tuesday.
I noticed Yesterday I found a brand new bravo sitting ina parking lor and spent a minute or two eyeballing the spacer on the caliper side of the fork it looks noticeably smaller than my own.
I took a few measurements this morning. Non caliper side: From the inner lip of the wheel to the fork: 1in On the caliper side the same measurement is 1.25 in
The spacer itself is measuring 13/16
I'm going to call the dealer and do a bit of googling to see if I can confirm the proper size for the spacer.

I knew I would catch hell for saying it's true. Lol. Definitely flush. There's a possibility the rotor is not radially centered on the hub, although I'm having issues verifying without a bench to mount it to

The rotor is sitting flush on the hub, and is true.

Your help has been greatly appreciated. I'm going to take it back to the dealer and figure it out where the problem is,(I wasn't very happy with the service I receieved the last time I visited) the 6 mile trek isn't something I felt comfortable taking with the scooter rubbing this badly. I'll report back once I get everything squared away.

5 mile ride, and everything seems fine. It still won't coast like my wife's SYM DD50. Should I expect it to?

@jct Scooter is brand new, just clocked 108 on the odometer. imgur.com/hpYraVC in this photo you can see the groove the rotor has worn into the the caliper mount. You can also see one of the washers that I added this morning. I've just finished reassembly so I'm going to go take it for spin and see how everything feels. Could there be an issue with the forks being misaligned? That's the only other possibility I can think of.

Is it possible I have my terminology mixed up? The issue is not the clearance for the floating caliper/piston. Its the bracket that the caliper/piston floats on, the piece that bolts directly to the fork
